It’s not that’s damaging so much as it’s just kind of cringey, tbh. Like if it helps, I’m all for it, but I feel like this being one of the first things she’s done since 2024 (aside from releasing a tone deaf book) just kind of contributes to her image of looking like a predominantly “vibes” based pol.

Aye, but the primary registration deadline hasn't passed yet to my knowledge and I could see her centrist backers wanting to push her since the centrist candidates aren't doing super strong as of yet.

Kamala wasn't a good candidate in 2024 and she wont be a good one in 2028.

She was too left for the republicans only because she was left on social policy (which is great of course) but she isn't a lefty on economics and foreign policy...like at all and that alienated A LOT of ppl and supressed the vote.

Of course her race and gender also played a role but her Gaza approach was horrific and didnt meet the moment even though she differentiated herself ever so slightly from Biden she ultimately wasnt coding as progressively better and then her economic policy agenda wasn't ambitious enough. Like you have to let ppl dream a little....her policies were good but wonky on the economy. Ppl want simple explanations AND big aspirational policies even if you cannot maybe execute on them you still have to sell it.

Overall, I don't think there is anyone who has presented themselves who is good enough. Gavin seems to be the one to watch but even he is extremely vulnerable as a candidate....the dems really need to try to inspire some good talent to emerge and to emerge soon. The time to begin running is now not in 2027 or 2028 itself. You gotta build momentum.

sadly i think america is gonna need a centralised candidate, someone who will say; allow trans people into the bathroom they identify with but also won't allow any form of transitioning beyond name changing before 18. And they're gonna need someone to abolish ICE but also tougher on immigration to appeal to both sides. Neither side will be fully happy and America has been a more right win country for years anyway.

but sadly it's gonna be sh*t but you guys are just gonna have to expect some for of right win politics to always be included for at least another 10 or so years i think

All of what you said it true except I do think that in this point there is a mistake. While maybe some of the demands the leftists made were unreasonable, she REALLY REALLY should have capitulated on Gaza. That was a HUGE voting suppressor and she largely wouldnt have alienated a huge amount of the pro Israel base in the dem group since if you look at polls on this issue, ppl have TRULY moved towards being more pro Gaza than pro Israel by a huge margin (this is for all dems, independents and even younger republicans). She made a big mistake with this one. 

I dont even think she needed to say she'd ban weapons to Israel....she could have just said a pause on offensive weapons or labelled the war a ethnic cleanising campaign if she didnt want to call it a genocide. There were so many off ramps for her on this and while americans dont typically cast their vote on foreign policy matters, Gaza largely did matter on recent exit polls which showed a huge supressor for ppl who didnt vote was indeed that (among other things). Some purity tests arent worth it and others are. It really showed she wouldnt listen to the base even on the matter of something so morally repugnant. BIG BIG BIG strategy mistake. We can't absolve her of all blame. 

Obviously we all wish Kamala won but we also need to evaluate her shortcomings as a candidate and while I agreed with everything u said especially "moderate president back and pushed by progressive congress" I do think we have to factor in some things she could have done to have maybe eeked out a slim victory.

I wonder what Gavin Newsom's race will look like in 2028 tbh. I hope he is studying past mistakes from Kamala's race and evaluating things differently. U gotta show some responsivness to the base demands when their demands make sense which isnt often but sometimes they can be. If you dont then it feels pointless to vote for someone who wont hear the majority of the voter base on anything. You gotta give the illusion of "budging" but not being trampled over by the base or progressive side of the base....it's a tough dance. Let's see what he does!

we need a candidate that is going to put the working class Americans first (bc that’s most of the vote) and explain how they are going to do that thoroughly . Not by avoiding interview questions and going on long side quest stories, and calling raunchy rappers to perform at rallies. Kamala is very funny and likeable as a person but she seriously needs to learn how to address the public and prepare for press releases well before she runs again. 
 

Said candidate needs to find a way to put a bridge between the dueling sides and appeal to everybody, and show some light at the end of the tunnel. It’s gonna take a person that can reach both the young and the old.

Ngl I don’t think this is what the country wants. Trump’s approval rating is underwater right now and he’s in the negative approval-wise on both immigration and the economy (formerly his two strongest issues). But I agree about economic populism as the most viable path forward.

Katie said she'd step down the second Kamala runs if she runs. The reporter was surprised and asked her if she was basically annointing Kamala and Katie said she was just being realistic and wouldnt have the same name recognition as Kamala and wouldnt be able to compete at all. Kinda sad....If Kamala is running for Governer I hope Katie stays in the race. A bit of a battle is always a good thing for politicians imo. Even if Kamala will sweep with ease it would still be nice to have her REALLY compete for it since Katie is indeed a formidable candidate.

My mom is into watching these psychics on youtube, and one kept insisting that Kamala was going to come back in some way all last year, lol. 

Anyway, Kamala (like many dems) would've been a good politician for the 2000's landscape of politics, but we have no need for neolibs at this crucial point in time. We need someone who will actually try take action and be for the people, enough of these lame, spineless brand of democrats who pal around with, and try to cater to the nazis. They are useless.

And state and local elections mean nothing in a national election, because I hate to break it to you - every presidential nominee except Trump had state and local election wins before they ran for President and half of them still had to lose.

By living in what is essentially a purple state, and currently a county where almost everyone I am surrounded with is conservative- my neighbor still has Trump flags up (yes, I mean that to be plural) and boasts about what a great job he still thinks that fu**stick is doing. So I guess a first-hand account of seeing how hated the left is right now and realizing someone radical is not going to reach these people because they are too stupid and someone has to find a way to appeal to them if we don't want to continue down this path as a country

Too many people on either side have such immense hate for the other, and what I mean is someone has to be able to find common ground that will attract both sides in order for us to get out of this mess. 

The conservatives are stupid and clearly easily influenced as we have seen by Trump's effect on them. Find someone who can find a way to appeal to them but actually want to progress our country as a whole, and there is a more likely chance they'll eat that up and then we will be back on the right track.
