would be some small but enforceable changes that could make big differences. But like you say, real change is unlikely. Pigs have the power.

We would never see real change from overhauling police forces. They just need to create an entirely new position and department with higher credentials like you mention. Start it off doing something specialized and over several years increase scope and take things out of police departments' scope and budget until the new department/position overtakes police departments.

 

A lot of the headcount would probably source from police departments, but at that point those that make it willingly increased their education and experience and are willing to be held accountable. I don't think we could ever get meaningful overhauls passed and implemented on a national scale. So why not just start over?

Precisely. While it is true that some MAGA people are just naive, a SIGNIFICANT number of them are fully aware of what Trump is doing and wants. A few months ago some MAGA pundits implied that they wouldn't mind using immigrants for slave labor, and then a few days ago pick me gay Grand Ole Evan said he wanted protesters to be gunned down en masse by police. These people are not naive. They know what Trump wants and will applaud it.

While I don’t believe all police officers are bad.. most that I’ve interacted with are abhorrent. And in the country I’m in.. racist.
