plz be Mayor Keisha of Atlanta. Susan Rice is a WAR MONGER if I remember correctly. She has a really dangerous agenda for the Middle East in general.

I think Karen Bass would be a better candidate. I don’t think Bottoms has enough experience yet to take on such a big role. If Biden wins then there’s the risk of him having to step down mid term because of his health. Of all the women on that list I actually have the least confidence in her to step in.

But only 1 will be the VP.

Biden already knows it’s Kamala. It’s been Kamala for months.

My bet is on Susan Rice, they know each other well. Though, I kind of hope he'd pick Lance Bottoms, she might be able to carry Georgia & other toss up southern states.

If he wants a safe choice he’ll go with Duckworth.

No baggage, positive experience (military, legislative), national profile raised by Tucker Carlson attack, will be replaced by another Democrat in blue Illinois, first disabled woman elected to Congress, first to give birth while serving, fulfills WOC requirement, likely seen by voters as ready to govern if Biden’s health takes a hit

I love Kamala as any CA native would but I agree with Duckworth. No baggage and a war hero. I cant handle anymore baggage that will bring this nominee down. And I’ve been pretty vocal about Biden and his baggage lol. But I don’t know, the republicans will make up baggage regardless of he picks.

Honestly, I don't think so. Her history being a prosecutor is a bad look post BLM movement, so he'd probably pick someone with less of a controversial history. Not to mention, he's already going to carry California, he'll most likely use the VP slot to gain momentum in either a swing state or a state that might be flippable (Florida & Georgia)

I hope so. She would be great and she would also be such a fun VP, but also very smart and get things done.

I've said this since the beginning: Kamala will probably be VP. She got out of the race way too soon imo. My thought was that at that time she already knew that she wasn't going to get the nomination and started campaigning behind the scenes for VP.

I think Val Demmings would be interesting, especially because she's from Florida and that could further Biden's chances at winning the state, however, I do think Kamala will ultimately take it because she's got the name recognition from being at the debates. Also, if she does end up becoming his VP, she'll sweep Pence at the debates.

EDIT - I would love to see Duckworth get it though. Warren, maybe.

Harris could get it but her leaving the race was that she was out of money. That was widely reported at the time. I think Demmings has a pretty decent shot with the Florida weight. I’d love Duckworth tbh I’ve had the pleasure of speaking to her a number of times both personally and professionally and she’s wonderfully charismatic and very sharp.

very sad and also very unsurprising that Biden would create a shortlist of black women who are all as centrist/center-right as he is.

There are many progressive black women to choose from, like Barbara Lee or Nina Turner, and if he were wise he would be building a bridge to the left.

You cannot simply ignore the sizable percentage of Americans that enthusiastically  support a Green New Deal, Medicare for All and criminal justice reform--not just name prosecutors, warhawks and corporatists.

IMO it’s a 4 way race between Harris, Rice, Warren, and Duckworth.

Literally any of those would be great imo.

In addition: Copmala Harris would be the most tone deaf and completely performative choice during such an important moment in the BLM movement. Brown faces in high places DO NOT mean fundamental change.

Kamala has charged hundreds for nonviolent drug use, has supported the death penalty, and has supported low wage prison labor.

Like her or not, but Tulsi Gabbard--another progressive veteran and congresswoman of colour who was never even considered for VP-- was verifiably correct about how abhorrent Kamala's record is:

While I agree, he has been partnering with AOC and Bernie on his platform so it’s not like he’s done absolutely nothing, just not as much as he could. Still worth critiquing, but we should also give people credit where credit is due.

My vote is for Val, but after living in Orlando for 5 years and loving her husband's time as sheriff and now mayor of Orange County, I'm biased :vegas:
