LateToCult 41,838
Washington(CNN)Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said Monday he was considering four Black women to be his running mate, and has been receiving extensive vetting briefings about each potential candidate. "I am not committed to naming any (of the potential candidates), but the people I've named, and among them there are four Black women," Biden told MSNBC's Joy Reid on "The ReidOut." ... Biden is considering a broad tier of candidates to be his running mate, after pledging earlier this year to pick a woman for the job. CNN previously reported that Sen. Kamala Harris of California, Rep. Val Demings of Florida, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice and Rep. Karen Bass of California are among the Black women being considered. ... Countless factors will go into Biden's pick, but he has said he is looking for someone who is ready to be president at a "moment's notice" and someone with whom he is "simpatico" -- suggesting his personal relationship with his future partner will be key. He has also said that his vice president does not need to have foreign policy experience because that is his strength, but that almost all the women he is considering for the position have had "some exposure to foreign policy and national defense issues." full article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/07/21/politics/joe-biden-four-black-women-vice-president/index.html For anyone interested, these are the 5 women CNN names as likely contenders: Sen. Kamala Harris of California: Former National Security Advisor Susan Rice: Rep. Val Demings of Florida: Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms: Rep. Karen Bass of California: (Important to note that Biden did not say he was going to choose one of the 4 Black women he is considering right now. I think it’s safe to assume Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Sen. Elizabeth Warren still have their hats in the ring.) Of the list given by CNN, I think Bass is my preferred candidate but I understand she’s probably a long shot. Harris because of her popularity and Rice because of her established relationship with Biden. IMO it’s a 4 way race between Harris, Rice, Warren, and Duckworth. Well, Harris has her record as a prosecutor and Rice is tied to Benghazi. So the two likeliest contenders here (imo) come with some real baggage. Can’t be a Dem nominee without a little controversy. Am I right?
REALITY 80,162
I've said this since the beginning: Kamala will probably be VP. She got out of the race way too soon imo. My thought was that at that time she already knew that she wasn't going to get the nomination and started campaigning behind the scenes for VP. I think Val Demmings would be interesting, especially because she's from Florida and that could further Biden's chances at winning the state, however, I do think Kamala will ultimately take it because she's got the name recognition from being at the debates. Also, if she does end up becoming his VP, she'll sweep Pence at the debates. EDIT - I would love to see Duckworth get it though. Warren, maybe. 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢. JRCF29 8,230
If he wants a safe choice he’ll go with Duckworth. No baggage, positive experience (military, legislative), national profile raised by Tucker Carlson attack, will be replaced by another Democrat in blue Illinois, first disabled woman elected to Congress, first to give birth while serving, fulfills WOC requirement, likely seen by voters as ready to govern if Biden’s health takes a hit Don't Call Me Gaga
