She barely smiled because she was probably overcome with so many different emotions at once. It's not really that hard to understand why she wasn't smiling like the Joker. She was in the same category as Nicki Minaj, everyone was expecting her to lose to Nicki. And like I said previously, her winning a BRIT not long after her album reaching #1 is amazing, especially since it was her first major award show, so that's another thing which probably added to her emotions. She has no ego, pretense, she's just a GIRL who happens to have an album, she seems very humble pretty much always, it's normal for her to be like that on stage, in interviews ect. That's what I love about her. She's just happen to rise to fame, and she doesn't know how to handle it. She's too normal, too down to earth for all the attention.
