Katy has time to change her album now that Burqa leaked. :awkney:

I mean, imagine how underwhelming it would be if Katy sticks to typical Dr. Luke sound... I'm pretty sure she won't because they know they mostly shouldn't but who knows ?

The thing is Gaga passed the test with BTW. It was the album following the HUGE success of The Fame/TFM, the momentum.

Katy has yet released an album after her Teenage Dream, which is her biggest success so far so I feel like the pressure is higher on Katy than Gaga. In other words, if Gaga fails with ARTPOP, I feel like it would be less disastrous for her career than if Katy fails with her new album.

I slightly disagree.....for the people that think Gaga underperformed with BTW, another disappointing era could signal the end of her popularity while Katy having a poor era could just be seen as a bump in the road like BTW might be seen if she comes back strong with AP

Of course I think she did fine with BTW and think she will do even better this time. But I think many people see this as Gaga's comeback, so I'm sure she feels a good amount of pressure, especially if she wants to get over the Madonna comparisons and make up for not delivering the "album of the decade".

Pop Art

Since it's apparently titled Aura instead of Burqa, I can now say that I wouldn't mind it being a single. I was just worried the title Burqa would turn many people off.

I understand what you mean but BTW is a success, and we have the receipts.

It wasn't the typical pop radio friendly album but it was still a success. It was also a success because it allows Gaga to open her possibilities, musically. She really pushed it as far as she can with BTW, even lost some casual fans, but at the end of the day, she made an impact with the album and that's all that matter.

Underperformance would be Warrior for example, it flopped and nobody noticed it because nobody cared.

If BTW flopped, clearly everyone talked about it during 2 whole years.

But I agree when you said that if ARTPOP flop, it can still truly hurt her, but I think the pressure is lower on Gaga shoulder this time.

I completely agree that BTW was a success and it is my favorite album by her (and certain artists would hope for a "flop" era like BTW), but I think her being overshadowed by Adele and her slightly declining single success (with MTN and Y&I world wide) has made ARTPOP seem like a sort-of comeback. And comeback implies (at least to me) that some believe that she has to make up for her past era.

However, the reason I think she has more pressure is because she is in a sort of lose-lose situation. With Katy, the only pressure she is feeling is from herself with her dark comments. If she comes back with light songs then she may receive backlash. However, if she releases a darker but still generic sounding pop song I think people will eat it up. People seem to love her generic radio-friendly songs and I don't think she will pull a Warrior because she is too big of a name right now.

However, Gaga can't release a generic or safe song because it will be seen as a step backwards, but she also can't go too left field or else she may lose more casual fans. She has to make a catchy and radio-friendly song while also making sure to have the song be seen as something different and critically acclaimed.

Simply put, I think Katy's only pressure comes from her hyping while Gaga feels a lot more pressure from the GP and critics.

But I still think she will do great because she is really focusing on the music, which hopefully means it will be great (and it won't have been recorded in a tour bus).

"Aura" has a magical chorus but unless there are some big changes to the verses then I can't see this as an actual single.  It's even harder and stranger than Judas and we all know how that turned out.

I actually like the Infected Mushroom-esque production and vibe that she's going for but it's sooooo amelodic and uncommercial.  Testing a finished version of "Monster" on Australian radio a week before TFM's release is one thing.  This getting played on Australian radio now just seems like people are a bit desperate for anything GaGa related.

Since we're discussing music videos Judas, Y&I, & MTN > Katy's TD messes

I really hope this is the only leak from the album. It's so early for a leak... Just hope she releases this as the second single.

And who cares if it doesn't sound like other songs on the radio... Gaga isn't one to make songs specifically for radio (i.e. Katy). If it wasn't for Gaga pushing her unique songs to radio, then pop would progress at a much slower pace.

Dangerous Man

I have the feeling that this album is really a pure EDM. Burqa is just..... ughhh.... amazing

This will become the best selling EDM album tbh.
