One of the Boys has only sold 1,000 copies in the past 3.5 years? That can't be right :deadbanana:

The Fame has classics but Gaga's actual image damage its appeal, It could change if she is loved again with her new releases.

Adele had 2 hits that people really loved, and Rolling In the Deep is one of the most praised songs by a woman in history. If we compare, Norah Jones never had a stand out single and Dido songs are modest hits at their best.

And where are you getting the idea that her image is "damaged" and that she's not "loved"? Didn't she just come off a multi-platinum album with a tour that was set to gross $200m+ before it had to be canceled?

Even though I'm a huge fan of Teenage Dream, given the kind of success its multi-platinum singles have and not to mention a re-release, the overall album sales of it is pretty abysmal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I had read that Teenage Dream has been selling better than The Fame or BTW lately, that's why I thought that this album would have a great longevity.  :(

I like the Britney song. Definitely not her strongest but definitely not her weakest (a la HIAM :awkney: ) I actually heard it on radio today while driving home in the summer heat. It's totally suited for the summer.

I hope it does mediocre. ~20-15 peak on BB100 if I had to guess.

"Don't Know Why" was one of the biggest songs of the 00s, lol. It's what made Come Away With Me such a big seller. And how is Gaga's image damaged? I don't think it is, especially with this blackout. If it was, she's pretty much wiped the slate clean at this point.

I would hope Teenage Dream is selling better than an album that came out almost five years ago :deadbanana: Edited by Cherry

I would replace Dido with Alanis Morissette, since Dido was never "huge" to begin with.

She was the UK equivalent of Norah Jones. She had two albums in the top 30 all-time there. 9x and 7x Platinum respectively.

.

Queen Perry :worship:

And lol at Born This Way having a lot of expectatives (album of the decade, anthem of a whole generation) and underperforming :dies:

I can see albums like 21 or Teenage Dream still selling a great amount of copies in years to come. I don't feel the same about albums like BTW, The Fame, RED or Speak Now.

Teenage dream is a generic bull**** and it has sold that much only with the rerelease. BTW is still a better album and it sells better than Teenage Dream considering that TG got rereleased one year ago while BTW 2 years and considering that TG has six no.1s Edited by VforVendetta

Yes, but the promotion for The Fame ended in 2010 (Actually 2011 if we think about the Monster Ball). But you're right, it's a little unfair to compare two albums whose promotion started and finished in different times.  ;)

It sold better since the start of the new decade, which is understandable because it was released in 2010 (the start of the new decade), compared to The Fame, which was released back in 2008. But if we'd talk about their overall album sales in the US, The Fame is still way ahead with a strong 4.5 million sales. And that debut album of Gaga only produced 2 HOT 100 #1 hits, compared to Teenage Dream which produced 6 HOT 100 #1s (including the re-release).

With regards to BTW, I honestly find it quite impressive to have its sales close to TD, despite only producing one relatively huge hit (BTW) and two moderate hits (TEOG, Y&I). That alone could hint us the kind of album sales prowess Gaga has. Her critics say that BTW is a chart disappointment... when its sales aren't that far from the albums these same critics consider as the most successful of her contemporaries.

Radioactive is now spending its 16th week at #1 in the Billboard Rock Airplay chart. While it's currently at #2 in iTunes.  :woot:

SONG PREMIERE - Karmin - ''Acapella''

Gotta say, I'm lovin' this new lyric video trend. They're so cute and well done. And the song is really great! :music:

I know that "don't know why", is the reason why her album sold that much ('cause it was hugely praised by critics), but the performance of this song on charts is not that great (even Set Fire in The Rain charted better). Norah's impact worldwide is just a joke compared to the one that Adele had with 21, that's why I think that you can't compare them,

And yes, GaGa's image is neutral thanks to the blackout, now she only needs to play it safe with the ARTPOP era.

SFTTR hit #1. So of course it charted better. But Dont Know Why was a huge hit with AC and Hot AC radio back in the day. Never really picked up on Pop radio, though, but still went on to win 3 Grammys, and is still considered one of the mainstays of the decade.

No doubt Adele was more commercially popular when it comes to singles, but both sold about the same amount of albums, at least in the U.S., and won the same amount of Grammys, so I think they're comparable.
