But it doesnt mean it isnt "Politics is the process of making collective decisions in a group, society, or nation. It encompasses the activities involved in gaining and using power to manage resources, govern populations..." For all intents and purposes, if strong opinions vary from one side vs another on a subject. Its politics. Whether it SHOULD be or not, is a whole nother matter Edited July 11 by Economy

You're implying puruit of freedom has made marginalized people more hateful, and I just don't think that's accurate, nor fair Injustice was always felt the same, as well as pain and anger that followed. No, the trashfire state of it all that you're devestated by happened because conservatives, including oficated conservative figureheads and state leaders, decided it was appropriate to fully pull off the mask and start behaving like aggressive sadistic a$$holes that they are. After years of giving these people waaaaaay more grace than they deserve, marginalized communities realised raising above has not worked, in fact it may has actually been a detriment. So now we meet these people where they're at - a net positive in my opinion, because at the very least it's cathartic - we no long need to feign dcorum while talking to people who sounds proper while spewing just the most vile messages, since they can't be bothered to even pretend to be decent people anymore. It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

OMonster 15,025
Genuinely disgusted by the OP and following comments. Ann Widdecombe was a 78-year-old woman murdered in her own home. How anyone thinks it is appropriate to celebrate that is beyond me. Doing so demonstrates an extreme level of intolerance and hatred, which is the same behaviour you levy at Ann. subtext / fantasy

Marriage however (which as we know it began as a religious covenant, and she is catholic) she would want to stop you from. It's an extremely common belief and in my experience it's never because they hate us (though, those people exist. I wouldn't say Ann was one) it's just what they believe. 2 hours ago, CautiousLurker said: You're implying puruit of freedom has made marginalized people more hateful, and I just don't think that's accurate, nor fair Injustice was always felt the same, as well as pain and anger that followed. I wouldnt say that's what i'm implying at all, though I would argue that meeting people you believe are hateful where they are at IS making you more hateful by proxy. Every way I want to word my thoughts would just be taken as 'choose love guys ' or 'The far right arnt that bad ' when neither is my stance here. I give grace to older, religious generations for believing what they know to be true and people who just dont know enough yet, we're all human and have a right to exist and share how we feel, people who completely oppose my world-view are not worthy of death in my eyes so it's hard for me to grasp how normal that way of thinking is our community. But, like I said, *I cant blame you guys for that* 1

I just can't get down with a conciliatory tone like that when it comes to people who believe I shouldn't be able to marry or love freely. However polite or 'civilized' they are in their homophobia, it's still homophobia rooted in a disgust at gay people. By babying them like this I internalize that disgust. She once called gay people "something of the night"....that's not just 'oh I'm religious so I have to oppose gay marriage". Just want to add I'm not celebrating her death and think it's pretty dark she was murdered. She was a vulnerable pensioner. But I don't give people the 'grace' of not caring about homophobia for anything. Those two things can co-exist. Edited July 11 by onTheBrink
