The only song I have a problem is Kill For Love... It sounds so weird and it's a shame because it's such a good song :messga:

I can’t help but wonder if that isn’t because the only versions we have are ripped from vinyl. But even at that, I still like the looser/live/garage-y disco kind of feel on tbh

I think the engineering is generally all good. If I had any complaint it would be with GoE, much like the twink seems to. It’s a smidge too loud and abrasive for me and the music almost overpowers her vocals at many times. But it doesn’t ruin the song for me.

That’s my only complaint as well. I have to brace myself for a little (but very real) physical pain whenever I listen to that song. :saladga:

I still haven't heard an HQ rip of KFL so it remains one of my least favorites

Mayhem is one of the best produced albums I’ve heard in a very long time.

Agreed. The vocal engineering is pristine and so is the instrumental engineering. Everything sounds so vibrant and full and you can really hear every part of every song.

It’s 100% a stylistic choice. Any time Gaga’s albums sound a certain way it’s that. BTW *does sound crazy but that was the point. She wanted it to be loud, messy, muddy and garbled. If you don’t like it, okay, but acting like it’s some overlooked error is just silly when she’s been on the record for basically every album talking about her intentions with the overall quality of sound

exactly, just like she explained in that production-explaining video of Disease for Rolling Stone; she wanted to feel like the song was almost going to explode at certain points, just like with PC at some points you feel like it's getting maybe  too loud, but that's the way she wanted it + why we like those songs

If you want to know what an actual badly mastered album sounds like, listen to Yesterwynde by Nightwish. The vocals are drowned out by the instruments like 80%-90% of the time, and they call it "stylistic choice". I love Nightwish but sonically (and from a lyrical and song structure point), that album is a disaster. But that's off topic.

Mayhem is just to my liking. It has more "oomph" compared to the more forward, clear sound of Chromatica or Joanne. So Mayhem reminds me of how ARTPOP and Born This Way sound, but even more fleshed out, more "dense"... I dunno if that's the right word. It achieves this full sound without being muffled, sharp or sacrificing vocal clarity. Wonderfully done indeed!

It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.

people who make these claims need to start clarifying what device they're listening to the music on

an old crusty mac book is not going to achieve the same result as quality headphones

And most never switch their streaming settings off LQ :laughga:
