Liberals win.

Absolutely incredible how terrible it was looking for them until Trump got involved.

Trump is POISON for conservatives abroad because other countries are smarter than Americans.

And yes I can say that because I’m American :vegas:

Liberals definitely looking like they will win, they are too ahead of Conservatives now on seats, it seems unlikely they will catch up

However a Majority Government will he a very close call. Lets see what happens.

Liberals current are leading in 159 seats but they need 172 for a majority (Conservatives currently have 133 seats)

How are y'all doing? I'm not from Canada myself but I hope it is going well. :duck:

Liberals are winning so yes!

But majority or not will be razor thin lets see what happens

Minority Governments in the parliamentry system is a real pain in the Royal Behind.

They need 172 for majority. If they win with 170 seats or 171 someone is getting slapped :triggered:

I voted for the Bloc but the liberals are winning. I’m not disappointed but I just really hope Carney will do a much better job than Trudeau for the economy cause girl we’re poor :huntyga:

I would too if I wasn't dead inside already :traumatica:

I'm curious to see what, if any, effect anti-Trump sentiment has/had on the results. I don't even know the candidates or their positions but I can only assume Canadian conservatives were at least quietly trying to cozy up to the American Reich somehow :billie:

Tell me I'm wrong and that Canadian conservatives are better than American ones :messga:

Well, at the very very least we can say that. Canadian Conservative Party is not as extreme as US Republicans and Pierre Poilievre is definitely not on the level of Trump stupid :ladyhaha:

That said, technically the Conservatives are not our Far Right party. That is the PPC, they are extremely bluntly racist for starters but their support is extremely small. Currently they are winning 0 seats in this election so far :woot:

oh, a HUGE!!!! effect. Can't be understated. It was a perfect storm of Trudeau stepping down and Trump ramping up his '51st state' rhetoric that turned this election on it's head.

And yes, Pierre Poilievre (leader of the Cons) was absolutely playing from the Trump handbook and had to pivot hard, and it ruined his campaign, thank christ

The turnaround in the Liberal vote share from hitting lows of 20% to now sitting at close to 50%. Mad stuff.

Liberals did awful in the GTA btw. Although they winning in Toronto ridings they loosing almost every single suburb including large city suburbs

Voting efficiency is not working as well in Ontario as some expected

If a leader looses their own riding thats embarrasing

What happens if a party leader or even Prime Minister they loose their own riding? They lead without a seat? They ask another party member to give up their seat? I actually dont even know how it works

Things will flip around for a while yet, counting and reporting is actually very slow. I'm confident in the Liberal call, likely minority though
