Taylor owns the publishing rights to her old lyrics & melodies, whereas Shamrock own the recording rights for the og album masters. Shamrock can be sneaky and release recordings they have, while Taylor can approve or deny their use in media (i.e. film/TV). Taylor's able to exploit this by doing Taylor's Version and refusing any film/TV sync requests that involve the old versions. Bonnie McKee is also doing a re-recordings project, but she has no rights to "American Girl", despite having written it, so there's nothing she can do there

I don’t know any of her music except American girl
Better Day 5,766
I reckon the company that currently owns Taylor’s stolen masters will sue her over the re-recordings Together You And I!

The lyrics, composition and everything else is her property. On what grounds can they sue her? Something something idk

Guest
I’m so excited for Speak Now. It’s one of my favorite Taylor records and I don’t revisit it because I don’t really enjoy her younger vocals now.
