It was only monsters that thought it was amazing lol GP would've heard it and thought 'wtf'. A bit like Replay... GP taste is not the same as liddo taste

Replay is popular with the gp though for a nonsingle. My boyfriend got into the song through tik tok. G.U.Y. I can see being too weird for people in full Gaga backlash though.

Bradley

It was the first time she didn't promote a single.

Promotion used to still work back then and streaming wasn't as huge. I'd say the flop was avoidable.

Chromatography

it’s not very gp friendly and it came at the end of an era where she was most disliked.

That is not true, everyone loves replay. Check YouTube, other forums and other fan accounts. GGD is actually the least place it gets a praise

People need to understand timing, promo and eras only matter for new artists during their Sophomore album at max (like Dua Lipa’s FN) other than that no matter what promo you do if it doesn’t click it doesn’t.

Gaga was everywhere during ARTPOP she only disappeared for a month or two, and the controversy didn’t affect her much.

Musically the pop scene was changing from EDM (early 2010s) to RnB, Hip hop and Trap

That’s why Katy Perry did great with Dark Horse.

why’d you quote me tho :triggered:

It's a very noisy, repetitive and dated song. The video also sucks (that Andy Cohen head still gives me nightmares).

I never understood why this fanbase adores G.U.Y. while hates on Donatella, a far superior song.

Imagine if Donatella was released with a high-budget video.

The song is ok. Not pop enough; the hook not nearly as catchy as her other stuff to be a smash hit.

I imagine on paper (or in Gaga’s head) it worked, but the finished product comes across a tad gimmicky. It’s certainly not a desert island disk.

And besides, at the time of release the gp were kind of over Gaga’s schtick. Which is why she did two do-overs with Tony and Joanne.

No promo, no video for DWUW which means there was too many months without any videos and the era was over by then. Could someone explain how on earth anyone in this fanbase thinks that Venus would've been a safe single option? :billie: It's so cringy wtf...

Its just Lu

Besides all what was written here before, i just wanna set my personal sidenote (even if it may not fit perfectly with the topic). I LOVE the „remixed“ Version of ARTPOP in the beginning of the film. It gave and give me a epic feeling every time I hear it (yes, i often rewatch it just because of the ARTPOP part) and still wish there would be anywhere here on the World Wide Web a cut out or even a full lengths version of it. I don’t care if its official or fanmade, but its just to good i think
