but she explains it all in the video? It's autobiographical but seen in an artistic way.

The video shows her after she suffered her abuse, in real life she may not have ended up in hospital, this could be dramatized in an artistic way. It apprears that at the time she didn't tell anybody about what happened but in her mind it was traumatic. The mental ward to me symbolizes bot the psysical and mental pain she suffered.

You see her best friend Bo taking care of her in an apartment that looks like hers did. 

We see her getting dropped from Def Jam, spiraling (in the video she touches her nose and smashes mirrors, she used to talk about how her cocaine use would be very solitary, she would sit before a mirror and do her make-up while playing David Bowie's Aladdin Sane)

Then we see her determination to keep going. She at first doensn't really fit in (the dancers ignore her) but she's determined and kind (helps a dancer get up) and then get's embraced by this community. 

A community that has her back (when they litteraly dance behind her on the downtown streets of NYC) as she flies off to LA to be a star.

To me her scenes with the cars represent her connection with the downtown NYC scene and how she was a star there, among likeminded friends, clad in leather, riding oldtimers, rocking out, before she became a world-wide star.

The video also shows a quick montage of her struggles Gaga often discussed: Her relentless self promotion, lugging her heavy keyboad everywhere, her smoking and her eating disorder (puking in a toilet).
