Gaga "Not Promoting Chromatica"

I don't know if anyone ever touched on this topic before because I wasn't really on here tons when the album dropped. But from what I remember the album came out the night of the huge protests and she got tons of backlash from people online for celebrating it. We certainly all know how compassionate Gaga is for equal rights and has been since the beginning of her career, but I don't know if the general public knows her like we do. To be totally honest I think this hurt her a lot, and makes her question the rollout of certain things now. I would personally be completely devastated if my integrity as an artist and human being was questioned because of an unfortunate timing of events that were not entirely in her control. She went on to devote her entire social media for months to people who could speak on topics that she could not. I just think she never bounced back into the swing of things since then. Partly because those issues are still going on today. Covid really isn't any better here in the United States (actually worse) and the election feels like it will never end.

In my opinion I think a lot of artists will start deciding how they are going to go forward within the next year. Whether that is rereleasing albums with more music or doing more videos etc. It's not just Gaga. Tour cycles are completely off now for tons of artists, which is the main way their labels and everyone else make their money. So for people that think it's a complete pipe dream for an extended version of Chromatica to come out, they might not fully understand the playbook for promotion is completely thrown out. Taylor is a good example of this. If not for the pandemic she probably would have never released a surprise album let alone two back to back. If the rumors are true and she has a surprise third one coming in spring, then she will probably package them as a folklore trilogy, make special editions, merchandise, etc which will lead her into fall 2021-2022 where she may be able to tour a little or plan something else. I see other artists doing similar and trying to extend the life of the work they put out.

At which point can Interscope step up and "take over" to make sure their "product" is still being promoted?

This just sounds like slavery with extra steps lmao

I think Gaga is at a point in her career now where Interscope is willing to leave her alone. You have to remember that we're talking about an artist who just released her fifth straight #1 album, has four #1 songs, is an Oscar winner, a Golden Globe winner, an Emmy nominee, and who grossed over $5M from just three Vegas shows this year. She's headlined the SB.

five number one songs

Why are you so salty? If people questioning her promotion strategy is triggering you, I suggest you don't enter threads called "Gaga not promoting Chromatica" :awkney:

Im not salty im just sick and tired  of people saying that gaga did the bare minimum ignoring all the charitable things has done this year

We're discussing the promotion of Chromatica - as far as I'm aware, her charity work had nothing to do with it, so why are you bringing it up exactly?

Don't try to make me say things I didn't.

I bring it up because some of you are acting as if gaga has been sitting on her aas all year ignoring everything that happend this year and that because of that gaga may feel like there are more important things to do than promoting an album also gaga halted her promo for the blm movement lending her instagram to blm organations and for the together at home event so yes it does have something with it

Why? Lol she doesn't need to do anything. We aren't in the place to make these kind of requests.

Lmao that's not what I said tho.... I know she did a lot of charity stuff this year and I totally get that. I would never criticize her for that.

I'm talking about the Chromatica era, not the Covid-19 era :huntyga:

TBH I feel like some fans have arguably created a "new" version of what really happened. Chromatica had promotion—not a lot of it, but it's not like Gaga didn't push it at all. She covered two magazines, did an interview, a medley performance, 3 music videos, etc. There may be a fourth music video with Nick Knight (it's also possible it was some video visuals for the Chromatica Ball, though, that's now....gone). Gaga has done more promotion than Ariana has for her last two albums, Taylor for Reputation and arguably Evermore/Folklore, the Weeknd, etc.

It's not 2012 anymore and artists do not promote at anywhere near the same level as they used to do so in the past. Katy and Dua are the exception, not the standard. As others mentioned, too, the current situation (the protests, the election, the pandemic) probably played a large role. Fans need to stop stanning Gaga if they are going to get angry about not being fed the same level of content as the BTW era.

*Also, before anyone says "Bloodpop" ...Bloodpop is a bit of an a-hole and a troll. Fans, however, harass him non-stop so it's not like he's doing it for nothing. I doubt Gaga controls his every tweet. And Bloodpop mentioned nothing except a few different versions of Babylon...and not releasing a few different mixes/versions her producer mentioned hardly constitutes Gaga "breaking" a promise to fans.

Yes, and that was incredible of her to do that. Once again, that's not what we're discussing. Many other artists have been able to do both charity work and professional endeavors - in turn, don't act like Gaga's time has been 100% dedicated to charity the past few months... the One World concert was in April. She could've done a bit more promo if she wanted to, and you know it, hence the saltiness I assume. No need to snap at everyone for merely wondering why their fave isn't promoting arguably one of her best works in years - it's perfectly OK if she feels like her heart is not really in it atm, but I think what would actually make it all a bit better for fans is transparency.

She's an artist first and foremost - don't blame the fans for wanting content, as long as it's respectful
