Hollywood Is Preparing to Sacrifice Movie Theaters

I miss going to the theater (especially local, artsy joints) but it felt like this was inevitable.  So many streaming services prior to and amidst the pandemic.

Glad that corporations are caring about safety and well-being.  Hell, most of us non-essential or young peeps won't be vaccinated until summer -- and then we'll likely need the inoculation again like a flu shot, no?  I am just going to keep wearing masks while in public (and especially during flu season-- can't believe it wasn't a thing before this year in the US).

President Biden

Theaters will return. I LOVE the feeling of going to the movies in person and box office records are only being broken year after year. No sign that people won’t return to the theaters when things are safer.

Once COVID is safe (vaccine works, CDC says its okay to resume normal), things like movies are going to be PACKED. People will be so excited to have any reason to go out.

I got drunk

I mean did anybody really think movie theatres would be safe until 2022 or more. Even with a vaccine and every single person in the US took it. How long before 360 million vaccines will be administered? If they did 1 million vaccines a day it would still take an entire year.

The thought of even being in a packed enclosed area (except for concerts I’ll risk it) even after the vaccine comes is making me uncomfortable :selena:

I wonder if Gaga's Gucci film will be straight to streaming as well? I would've liked to watch that in theatres, but if I can just watch it in the comfort of my own home, why bother?

I'm surprised at how many ppl think like this now

I personally find going to the movies a cool experience. The giant screens, going with friends, popcorn etc

Of course it's the same movie if u whatch at home but the experience and atmosphere just isn't the same

It depends on the movie. If it has lots of action and visual/sound effects then it would be better to see that in a theatre. Anything else I don't mind watching at home.

That's stupid tbh. I'll miss theaters if they go away I loved going to them.

Also, as to the using "2" and "4" to "shorten" the article, what kind of nonsensical logic is that when all you have to do is copy less of the article and allow people to click the link if they want to read the entire thing :awkney:

Make it make sense!

There's definitely movies I too wouldn't bother to see at a theater. I also love binge whatching TV series at comfort of my own home so I do get the appeal of whatching tv from ur couch

But definitely I like to find a worthy movie to see at theatre once in a while cuz again I just like the atmosphere too and the whole theater experience. It's not just the movie itself

It's like going to a restaurant. Most restaurants these days offer take out and it's the same food but sitting down with friends in a different atmosphere than ur home once in a while with someone serving you etc has its appeal even tho the food is mostly the same

Same with drinking as well. Buying liquor at store is so much cheaper than going to a bar with friends and getting served not to mention tip but it's so much more fun and exciting

That's how I see movie theaters. The movie is the same but it enhances the experience

Before Covid-19 I liked to go at least once every 4-6 weeks

I was thinking the same thing. It was weird reading a serious article with all that random shortening :rip:

Mind u most of the time I don't copy and paste anyway I explain my news articles in my own words

But sometimes from time to time I did copy and paste and I'm pretty sure i did copy more than 50% sometimes :gum:
