I personally think it has something to do with the mask.

She has 3 thing to contend with here. She's fully masked indoors with stage lights. She is doing full choreo. And she almost always speeds her live instrumentals up just a tiny little bit more than the OG track. All this and she still sang on her own (we know the show was pre-recorded and likely had a few takes so I'm not saying 'live').

3. She’s maintaining her vocal pauses.

4. She has fibromyalgia. 

5. She was hot and sweating.

she has always sounded like that for the longest time, what are you talking about? She’s using her chest voice. You should realized that she’s not a soprano hence when she reach higher notes, it tends to be difficult for her so she will strain in some cases. There are instances where she can hit the notes flawlessly but she needs to switch to mixed voice however, she’s dancing and wearing a mask so her breathing is hindered.

 

I’d prefer her giving us everything- live vocals, choreo, dramatics; than just plainly static in a corner being all technical singer

Uhm- sleepasil? Lately ive had trouble sleeping. So yeah I noticed too that she hasnt done full chore plus vocals in a while. I think the face mask has really interfered alot. I didnt think it was a big deal but watching the perf over and over I think she has had problems breathin thru the mask.

Well, if we follow logic that would be correct but I just can't unhear Ariana sing "Rain On Me".

there were some pitch corrections here and there. it’s more obvious in the pre-chorus of ROM. but who cares? it was an awesome performance nonetheless.

It does sound like Ari, but it's Gaga. 

Here when Gaga sings "Rain on..." it sounds exactly like whoever sang the "Rain on Meeeeeee" part, so I'm like 99.9% sure that Gaga sang that

EDIT - Also, look at their hand gestures. Ari is following the whistle note while Gaga puts her hand out cause she's singing the "Meeeeeee" part

Let's give the girl a break, she was wearing masks and had intense dancing moments while singing for like almost 10 minutes straight. She also delivered amazing vocals during Stupid Love so it's not like something bad happened to her voice. Also 911 is an extremely hard song to sing since that song has many vocal effects, she pretty much did it on purpose. We already heard how amazing her voice sounded like on the quaranteen performance, her voice there was incredible, I'm sure nothing has changed

She was dancing and weeks before this performance she was enjoying not having to work during quarantine and having pizza dates with her boyfriend. I think we should give her a break. 2020 is not the year to expect anybody to be at their best. She's already done a lot when you think about it and I think we take that for granted.

She didn't perform since a long time, it was her first time performing those songs, she had a mask on, maybe she didn't take care of her voice that much during quarantine... I think she did great vocally tbh

To me she sounded awesome. The only thing a noted is that she sounded more nasal or bit "muffled"at times because of the mask obstruction.

So my take is that you guys prefer her doing lip synch like Doja and Miley? Now she’s being criticized for singing live. My lord...
