Doot 2
It's a hollow discussion when this happens because people are wrong everytime. They have no idea what the GP will like, and they are proved wrong time and time again.
MOT 3,061
I think Gaga's music has always been GP friendly. The songs, by and large, have been good, catchy songs, and she's a great singer. You can do no more. But a huge number of people wouldn't like her image (her old image anyway) and would have no interest in getting past that. ASIB would have won over many of those people (my own hand is raised at this point), but lots of people will always have her filed away under 'nonsense'. Something that is unique and GAGA but also something some ( not all) members of the GP can accept. I feel like Rain On Me fits that criteria but I guess the name Gaga is too big of a turn off for listeners. No she doesn’t, that what makes me a fan. She doesn’t have to appeal to the GP taste, art is not art if you restrict the artist COME ON GAYS!!
Bloodyleena 9
Her music is GP friendly but her image isn't.

Synths, four-on-the-floor beats, verse-pc-chorus-verse-pc-chorus-bridge-chorus structure, etc. What makes Gaga "Gaga" is her image and performances, not her music itself. Exactly, if they were talking about pre Gaga then I can see that as it’s very interesting and indie but after she got training from tish and learn the structures she definitely knew how to craft pop music. I mean she started out writing pop music for popstars like Jlo, pussycat dolls, Britney.
Wet Fire 7,495
She'll always be a polarizing artist unlike Adele or Taylor. It's just the way she is. Her sound, her persona, her appearance everything is a bit of a misfit when it comes to mainstream pop. Even when Shallow became such a humungous hit and the GP, critics and monsters - all were praising her to the heavens, there were people who were still turned off by her. To them, she sounded foreign. And this happens with only a few artists.
