You're not wrong because this virus isn't going anywhere anytime soon. You can't just go into lockdown for 2 months, lower your cases, and then claim victory. Look at California! Some are predicting the second wave will overlap the first wave of illness (which is still happening). So yea, things will continue to get worse pretty much everywhere in the US.
