Chromatica is just another way of trying to please a large group of her fanbase after Joanne and ASIB. Now, in retrospective, her past work seems unauthentic. Like she was doing it for the shock factor. I understand she is not 20 anymore but theres way to continue your art while maturing at the same time. Like Bjork or others did, for example. I cringe everytime she is around Mark Ronson or other collaborators because you can tell how much she tries to please them and be very likeable, someone could day that she has no personality, i say she is very sweet and a little insecure. Her Compass Point Session albums and their singles are considered to be one of the best musical outputs of the 80s, and carved their own lane in music by mixing different genres. Everybody from Bjork to Rihanna to Lorde to Billie Eilish have been musically influenced by her The fact that Gaga did it in doesn't mean that Grace hasn't done it either she was being controversial before it was cool, including topics such as sexual predators and strong social commentary in her music. She is the definition of being ahead of her time. She obviously never wanted to be mainstream, if she had she wouldn't have acted that way and would have continued doing disco music. The fact that she has a couple of popular and instantly recognizable songs with having had barley any chart success is a testament to her as an icon. I couldn't disagree more with what she is saying, but even I know when to take my stan goggles off You're not gonna get anywhere with me by trying to portray her music as revolutionary. It sure wasn't cool to be controversial when Gaga broke out either. This is all a pile of sh*t anyway. I have to wonder why some people are on here when they think Gaga has no personality or just lives to please others and that her career makes her depressed because its not who she is. The woman is doing everything and more. "I think it's funny that I'm not allowed to have a sense of humour" - Lady Gaga

The woman is doing everything and more. Except it is, you only have to look at the impact and legacy of the Nightclubbing album. Refusing to accept that the impact of her music and image can still be felt 30 years later doesn't make it not true It wasn't, but it was still seen more as celebrity antics as Madonna, Bjork, Britney, Christina etc before her had used controversy in some form or another to promote their music. People were used to it idk if that last temper tantrum is aimed at me or not, but like I said, I completely disagree with what Grace is saying. It just makes me scream when gays come for a legend's proven legacy just because she's shading your fave and you have no idea what you're talking about who will love me when the night is over

I don't think it's a sign of inauthenticity; rather, an attempt to connect. Some people are naturally better than others at changing styles of speaking and accents. I am too. And I tend to naturally speak like the people around me. Maybe she does too. When gaga is in paris she does a french accent its so cute

Reginald 13,841
I can see why Grace would question those things, I've also questioned them. The retconning of certain aspects of her career does irk me a lot, because I was so passionately enthusiastic about things that she's become wholly dismissive of. But, I mean, that's Gaga's right as the artist.

Ziggy 11,874
Eh I think it’s probably more of when she met Grace. It would have been earlier on when Gaga was more timid around celebrities and hid in her costumes to a degree and Grace is a very imposing person. I could very easily see Grace reading her a certain way from an encounter like that.

I didn't know that made me "bitter" Plenty of people have defended Gaga in this thread and I didn't quote them. I will, however, quote people who feel the need to put down other artists to defend Gaga when it's not needed, especially people who have no clue who will love me when the night is over

When I saw her Joanne tour in Atlanta, she spoke with a forced southern accent and justified it by saying "my Mama's from West Virginia". At the same time, I think an artist has every right to be an empty vessel if they choose. Gaga still has depth and a personality, for sure. And like others say, in her early 20s she was going through some sh*t. I honestly think she's fascinating for having the ability to put on different "hats". Sometimes, she's fake, but I love her work, her message and her intelligence. And the magic of art is that it doesn't require 100% authenticity. (She's also got some strong Scorpio and Gemini placements in her birth chart, so it makes sense lol) This basically
