Back in 2015, they made a shift to standardize worldwide music release dates to Friday “Here's why new music now comes out on Friday instead of Tuesday” (Splinter News) Routines are comforting. We've got milestones through the week as we head into the weekend. Monday is the first day, back to work. Wednesday is Hump Day. Thursday is thirsty, and Friday is TGIF. The only thing Tuesday had going for it was new music. But now Tuesday doesn't even have that. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry has led a worldwide initiative over the past year to get the entire world on the same music release day in order to standardize chart performance and reduce the possibility of illegal downloads. tylerjs 6,014 Posted September 5, 2019 Share Posted September 5, 2019 I’m not saying she’s releasing tomorrow (even tho I think it could happen), but I really do think it’s gonna be a surprise with no real promo or announcement before the single drops and no rhyme or reason with date selection. Obviously I’m biased bc I’m just so tired of waiting, BUT i genuinely feel like at least a single is coming in 2019. In all honesty I don’t think Gaga and her team are paying as much attention to “this date vs that one” in terms of battling artists on the charts, etc. I think she’s just gonna drop it as soon as she’s got a single perfected and I can’t imagine it being released in 2020. If she does wait that long I guess it is what it is. But I’m just so tired of hearing so many boring, uninspired songs and artists on the charts these days. Like we get it, you can make a predictable pop record that sells.
