I thought this was gonna be about that interview Gaga did where she ripped that guy to shreds because he asked if people were just gonna focus on the sexual references.

that's because it was rihanna at her peak doing electropop tbh and rihanna is "sexy" to the public. Nowadays if the song is sexual it has to be misogynistic to be a hit. Also the S&M radio edit was god awful

Who said this??

Sexual actually a huge selling point. So long it is not too vivid and gross like those Cuppkakke's songs.

I never understand those who claim a song is too sexual? Sex sells and songs like S&M are mild sex bops just like DWUW, DIC, ILIR, and Sexxx Dreams.

It’s not like they are saying p*ssy, d*ck, or f*cking in every lyric like mumble rappers and they have a better chance charting high.

I think it would have done well but it wouldn’t fit the public image she was going for with Joanne/5F2/ASIB

Didn't she need a remix with Britney to snatch a single week at #1?

In all fairness to Rihanna, the song was already a big hit when they released the remix. But yes.
