If you look at the oldest female legends with most longevity in relevance in the entertainment Industry it's mostly singers that also branched out into acting like Cher and Barbara Streisand. Jennifer Lopez has also remained relevant with the help of acting as well in addition to her music

 

After 40-50 it becomes extremely difficult to have hits in music (Cher was the oldest woman to get a #1 hit at age 52)

 

Sure music legends will tour for their fans and make a lot of money that way but in terms of relevance it's super hard to maintain an image.

 

Actors and Actresses on the other hand can have success into an older age because movies need older people too and the movie industry is slightly less ageist than music industry

 

I think Gaga now in her 30s is a smart move to expand into acting along with her music

 

#1 she loves it anyway and makes her happy

#2 it's a smart career move for longevity

Honestly I can see Gaga doing this and I’ll be bopping to it at my retirement party. 

It definitely is smart career move since in the music industry you have to stay on top (good charting, fanbase, labels, touring, etc.) which can be stressful. But in Gaga’s case no one could replace her in music and she is an established legend.

The BTW era gave me the vibe she would venture into film but dominate both fields. It sounds stressful but I believe Gaga is up for that challenge because she is so passionate about music and being an actress. I expect in her future work around LG8 to have moderate success in her albums like Joanne and let her film career shine more.

She's arguably the most successful female artist of all time overall (depending what u use to measure success)

 

Her name alone caries weight

 

But she hasn't had a hit in years or have much success commercially in years other than her tours

 

The only reason she is still relevant to a degree is because her name is such a big thing that she can still get interviews and stuff

 

Generally speaking in music that's difficult if u haven't had hits in 10+ years and are old

 

Madonna is the only older female artist that has had success mostly in music specifically and still remained relevant that's coming to my mind that despite being older and not having hits in over decade. Maybe Dolly Parton to a degree (I'm not sure how much she's acted)

 

I know Madonna has done some acting too but since she wasn't taken very seriously in acting and had limited success there, I'm gonna put her in the category of having remained mostly just a singer
