THIS

Pop Tart may have had a better concept since it was a clash of multiple ideas. Joanne was focused on finding identity and her aunt being a part of her. Joanne destroys Pop Tart.

im glad u enjoyed the Sleeping Fest, since its over we can move on to a better era

Another day, another "ARTPOP is underrated" thread.

By this time I think it's no longer underrated in GGD. :nails:

LOL ARTPOP is Gaga's worst album easily. It is still a decent pop record but  it is very outdated. It has no replay for me. Born This Way is her best album. It was the peak of her evolution thematically, lyrically, and sonically. ARTPOP had potential to be her best work given its concept that Gaga wanted to explore and share but It failed to execute and demonstrate her vision of art and pop's through the music and lyrics. The album was not experimental and as progressive as she felt it was or led people to believe about her record. The tracks did not age well and the lyrics especially coming after Born This Way which was a deep album full of songs with well written lyrics and messages from themes ranging from feminism (Schiebe), self expression ( BTW + Hair),  immigration (Americano),  love equality (BTW + Highway Unicorn), racial equality (BTW), romance ( You and I), and religious imagery ( Judas + Bloody Mary + Black Jesus Amen Fashion) and bravery (Marry the Night + The Queen) were not as thought provoking and deep. ARTPOP was far too shallow and not as soulful and driven as BTW. ARTPOP's concept was very clever but it was not executed in the music for me. She did so in visuals but the songs were about drugs, . The only song that was deep for me and poetic and abstract was ARTPOP the title track. I do not think it is Gaga's fault. Interscope made her change the musical direction of the album and made her make changes and record new tracks. They are to blame for holding Gaga back. ARTPOP is still a fun album. Its very eclectic and chaotic but the tracks electronic production do not hold up well.

I just listened to ARTPOP in full from beginning to end a few days ago for the first time in a while, and I was amazed at how iconic this album is after all these years. It's extremely underrated. The concepts, the visuals, and the production had a lot of thought, effort, and creativity behind it. Songs like Applause, Venus, Dope, ARTPOP, Sexxx Dreams are sonically genius. Even Gaga's identity felt much more authentically "Gaga" during that period, even throughout the tough times. If I'm going to be honest, Joanne is the least "Gaga" Gaga has ever been, which is ironic, given how she says it's her most personal work.

Ok but you can’t say Dope is just about drugs. It’s a hell of a lot deeper than that, though bears the name “Dope”.

Remember this like it was yesterday. Wish I could go back. ARTPOP was good vibes especially towards the begining of the era.

Yes, I know Dope is actually a deep song. Its very well written and touching ballad. I understand the meaning of the song and Gaga's relationship with the songs she recorded. FOr her they hold special meaning like Dope and Swine and Mary Jane Holland.. I am talking about songs like Jewels N Drugs, Sex Dreams are all about, all sex, drugs, and partying.  I understand that the album was intended to be a rave and party type album that was fun but Gaga's early vision of the album had me thinking she was going to put out some groundbreaking musical arrangements and instrumentals and philosophical lyrics about ART and pop culture. She did not make any strong statements. ARTPOP  is great album but it did not reach hits level of potential or original concept that I preferred that she was going to go for.
