I doubt they start counting until January after holidays. The votes are done online they don't have to be physically counted. This is not an elections. https://www.grammypro.com/ this is where votes are casted. The votes are then sent to the accounting firm you mentioned for mere certification. You don't need to physically count votes if they are done online. Explore that website and you'll find the voting process and how it's done. 5 minutes ago, GrigioGirl1 said: Also the winners get the real Grammys, fully engraved, delivered to them after the show. The ones you see on the show and in pics are fake (source: http://www.foxnews.com/lifestyle/2015/02/05/10-things-didnt-know-about-grammy-awards.html) Yup this is true but an outdated process. As of last year, they were given fully engraved awards

Now of course they will need to know the winners before hand, but it's most likely a week before hand. Either way most of the performers had been announced before they found out the winners. I'm sure the producers may WANT it, but they can't control who the voters vote for. Sure people like Pink and Taylor Swift showed their support to her, but there are still a lot of people who don't know who the **** she is. Meanwhile Gaga is A list, performs every year inlcuding the Superbowl. Neither will likely beat Ed SHeeran, but if there was an upset, it be Gaga not Kesha. She'd already done that countless times throughout 2016 (Superbowl, VMA's, etc.) so I doubt they wanted her to do it again. Plus she was pregnant so they couldn't make her do anything strenuous, which is why she stuck to a motherhood-themed performance. Anyway I wouldn't put voter manipulation past the Recording Academy They pick the nominees themselves against the voters' wishes, accept payola from Jay-Z, etc.

I'm not sure about you guys, but I was been avidly reading articles, tweets, and posts and the impact Jay-Z had on many people was immense. It's so inspiring for minorities—black people (and somewhat LGBT people) in particular. EDIT: It irks me that he tries to inflate his success. Sony bought over a million copies of 4:44 which boosted his sales immensely yet it is futile when he is incapable of selling out arenas.
Mr S 8,672
The most likely explanation for Jay-z is his name is big enough to get into the top 20 of each category. There, somehow he figured out who is on the special committee, and he targeted them. I want to know how he found out who is on the committee because that is kept secret to prevent this from happening in the first place.

freebit 6,240
My mind is being blown reading through this thread. Gaga and Tony being asked to perform the year they won makes more and more sense. Though, IDK... I'm preparing for either something disappointingly predictable (Chuckie Finster sweep), or a big upset, like Lana or Imagine Dragons winning out of nowhere. The only scenerio aside from Gaga winning that wouldn't bum me out is Kesha winning.
RochestrMonstr 3,183
I think Joanne's chances are good too. Like really good. I know it might not win, but i'm really excited see how it plays out. I usually work Sundays, but I will be off this Sunday! I'm really looking forward to being able to watch from my own apartment rather than trying to switch the channel on one of the bar TVs(where we're always supposed to have sports on) at work to watch.
