Leeo 2,366
btw Paparazzi is shorted already I said on the other thread that PI was a mess from the start of the tour tbh, just mad over it and the cut now makes it even worst. People dealing with "hard to sing" thing and I'm like "I thought everybody on this cult site shares that we stan a vocalist" PI is hard just Like Million Reasons high notes and every other song. And my honest opinion? she could just drop a backtrack to sing along and not make that damage on her voice. It isn't playback if she sings most of the song

She has been doing 2-hours shows since 2010, using her voice A LOT and even since BTWB we're having higher notes songs. Perfect Illusion is just another song with a high note, just like Highway Unicorn, Government Hooker, Gypsy, The Edge of Glory, Do What U Want (specially the postlude she used to do on artRAVE) and many more were. This excuse is just... i caaaaan't! There's a HUGE difference between the skillset needed to perform DWUW's high notes and PI's high notes. Belting that high is unhealthy, and Gaga knows it. My question is why she wrote it like that in the first place when she knew it wasn't sustainable vocally. Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you

It isn't playback if she sings most of the song Vocal range has NOTHING to do with how damaging PL is.... again The term "belting" is avoided nowadays because of all the negativity and controversy over it. It was a term that referred to when singers created a loud, strong tone in a section of their voice that is usually the weaker head voice area or the vocal break between the two registers. Belting was used a lot in musical theatre and pop (and still is but is often referred to as "chest dominant mix" now). You will hear a lot of pop and rock singers using belt (particularly in the chorus) and have perhaps tried to sing along with them but can't keep the strength in your voice quite as high. This is because the voice needs to be trained in order to do this with ease. The reason belting got such a bad reputation is that many singers used to force the belting sound (especially to push through their vocal break) without any training which led to vocal problems such as hoarseness, vocal fatigue and in some cases vocal nodules. One miss step using her belt and she can damage her chords. its hard to belt if shes constantly moving around a stage. this is why its mostly used in broadway, not on massive pop productions. IllusionLover 6,710
She has to sing PI full version in Rock in Rion, cause that's the point of the festival 13 | this is my dancefloor i fought for, your voice is louder, it echoes

As I said then: backtrack\backing vocals. As u said: You will hear a lot of pop and rock singers using belt (particularly in the chorus) [...] This is because the voice needs to be trained in order to do this with ease. It's not a easy job, for real, but it's not impossible. Also, she recorded the song and probably knew she would perform it later... anyway. She could switch pitch, song formula, song tempo... there are like thousand things they could do to keep the song but also make it easier. But we still having the same Bad Romance arrangement since 2009 so I don't think they really care about changing songs. It's easier to just cut it, right? Why she recorded that song on that specific range I dont know, but thats probably why she sang it acoustically for the little promo she did. switching the pitch will not make it easier cause she still has to belt. sure its easier to reach the belt, but its still dangerous if she spaces out and doesnt do it right (she hasnt been belting right ever since the tour began). Only if she lowers it A LOT, and that messes with the guitar arrangements and sounds (mics system, frequencies). Same with the tempo. just cause the song goes faster it doesnt mean her technique will change, if anything it will actually make her have to hit the belt even faster and that could be even worse if she doesnt have time to think it through. and song formula I guess you meant like the structure of the song? maybe, if she cuts the chorus out and keeps the lower harmonies that dont require belting during the bridge. the only issue there is that you basically neglect the main part of the song (and the fans would complain more about that in my opinion) If she is scared of the belt she should just use her mix instead (combination of belt and headvoice) , its not as powerful but it doesnt require her to push her chest voice up. the song would lose a little bit of intensity but not as much
