Kinda same. I just thought Madonna was this lady that had music to make me dance, discovered her after watching her music videos, because of the hot men in them and yeah.

Maybe that's just how the younger gen feels towards Gaga.

Yea I didn't think about Madonna that much until around the born this way era before that she was just kinda there

The guy in poker face was hot af gaga knew what she was doing

When I was like 8 or 9 when Britney, and Christina came out, I KNEW them. And I grew up with them and their highs and lows in pop music and culture.

15-18 year olds lived in a gaga free world, but gaga 9 years ago was inescapable! I'm sure 7-9 year olds knew about gaga and still know about her.

I knew about MJ, Whitney, Elton John, Madonna thanks to my parents, so I'm sure parents exposed their kids to gaga in some way.

Maybe they didn't follow her but they know about her for sure, she just doesn't have the cool factor, or didn't. Maybe now she's kinda getting it back with SB and TC? Idk really

Edit: I didn't even answer the question :laughga:

I don't think the younger generation really even thinks about gaga, but I'm sure she's gotten their attention lately.

Yea im sure some still remember...it was only 8 years ago. Some are probably just starting to follow the trends

This all really depends on your location. The middle schoolers I know all mostly listen to this stuff that they think of super cool and gangsta, which are songs that if you look at the billboard hot 100 rarely chart high, but they linger around the lower end. Most of Gaga's chart influence probably comes from an older audience, not those kids who mainly listen to music that makes them think they're cool just because it has the explicit tag on it.

This is true lol

I work with middle schoolers and they all love Gaga. On a field trip the kids started singing Bad Romance on the bus

Now that I think about it during gagas GP blackout I worked with kids younger then middle schoolers and they were singing bad romance

Younger generation? Can you define that?

I'm 19, am I a part of that generation?

I actually asked my cousin few months ago if she knew who Lady Gaga was, she was born in 2005, and she said "How could you not know her"

and I got really excited

then during the half time show she made disapproving faces and said

"I liked it better when Katy Perry did it"

so needless to say I cut off all emotional ties with her

I think they know who she is and at least know Poker Face, Bad Romance, Born This Way, and Applause

They might know Just Dance, Paparazzi, Alejandro, The Edge of Glory and maybe Do What U Want but probably don't know she sings it

I think he means like 9-15 years old. There's a lot of them that remember Gaga but they just think she's gone and old. :duck:

But I believe the young gays mostly know who she is. Its the straights that don't care about her anymore, they just listen to rap and electronic.

My daughter will be 7 and she's absolutely in love with gaga lol. Then again, I was pregnant with her at the monster ball. Gaga has allowed her to be unapologetically herself. Even at the tender age of 6, she'll scream "I was born this way!!!!" whenever someone tries to get her to be more "normal". Case in point: I let her wear a neon pink wig for picture day at school and she wound up in the principals office for refusing to take it off. I was absolutely livid!! As long as it isn't harmful to her health, I have zero right to tell her how to express herself.

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

I don't think they know her tbh, the jazz era really affected her

In mostly good ways to older audiences. More neutral way for younger ones

Lol guys its far too early to be talking about a 'new generation' that grew up without Gaga.

They're not old enough / haven't been born yet.

Her career is like 10 years old

Yeah I agree. There's always talent and what not but when you're not "on top of charts" people really don't care, especially the fickle parts of the youth.

I mean I have colleagues my age group that haven't heard of any new Gaga release since Born This Way so I won't be surprised if teens don't know her that much. Her streaming pre-The Cure should be a good indicator how out of the public radar she was compared to her peers

Yeah that's why I'm honestly grateful she released 'The Cure', it's already helping her once abysmal streaming and I'm glad! Hopefully this helps her with future releases and places her back at the top of the game. She releases quality music so it's only fair that the public knows about it
