Perfect Illusion is Bad Romance version 12.931

A-YO is Uptown Funk / Shake It Off

Million Reasons is a standard ballad

ARTPOP was 2012 EDM

Can we stop pretending that she stopped making mainstream music, please.

I love the songs mentioned but it's getting boring seeing people claim that she stepped away from the mainstream when she didn't.

Eh idk. I think that The Cure is more explicit when it comes to the end product. Gaga has always had mainstream quality, but the new song is much more blatant if that makes sense. I consider mainstream music to be songs that usually sound the same (sees current chart) and that are charting well. PI and ARTPOP are not good examples.

God Control

Most likely. She wants to see if the public still has interest in her making trendy pop music. And at the same time, it's a clear attempt at success. Nothing's wrong with either of the two intentions, though. But this experiment will determine the direction she takes, I guess. If it's a hit, she'll definitely go through that route, rather than trying a different genre.

Christ sake. EVERYTHING she released prior to Joanne was radio-friendly. Y'all are making out like she was this super experimental indie artist who's doing a complete 180.

This isn't an 'experiment'. It sounds exactly like Brooklyn Nights, DWUW and other unreleased songs she's done. The only difference is the trendy tropical riff which SHE ALREADY DID ON DANCING IN CIRCLES, WHICH YALL LOVED AND WANTED TO BE A SINGLE BECAUSE IT WAS RADIO FRIENDLY!!!!

PREACH!!!!
