What do you guys think about forbidding bills and coins money - only digital money?

Leaves some people out...

Could be used for security tho, might help stop money laundering and criminal financial transactions, like IS or d--g cartel income

It was bound to happen.

Isn't this basically the same thing that happened in the US that led to the Great Depression?

The 'Crash' of the 1930's NYSE was actually caused by a few large investors working together to pump up and dump certain stocks.  During the pump up, small individual investors would buy said stocks with all their savings with the belief that the would get rich.   After the stock reached a plateau, or maximum invested, the collaborating parties would sell all they owned as fast as they could.  Leaving everyone else holding the bag.   The depression followed when all the private investment ran out of money.  Only a few big names owned everything for a while.

Rules were changed and put into place to prevent the large investment groups from manipulating the system.  There are still a lot of shady going's on in the market but its too big for any group to have that much impact anymore.

China's problem is similar in that a lot of their stocks were/are pumped to much higher prices than they're worth and a huge sell off is occurring.  Its impacting the price of oil because China's manufacturing is slowing down which is a factor in the global oil demand.  Its not clear if the sell off is calculated or more of a bee hive effect.

whats going on in China involves a lot more than stocks and manipulation

China has areached a difficult stag in transition. It is now pretty industrialized and developed in most parts of the Country, wages are rising and the middle class is growing... Ilthe economy is now too mature and labor costs rising too much for their exports and industrial activity to keep booming... In fact its been slowing for years and last year industrial output was flat

the Chineese Government got used to 10% annual growth rates while China was developing and did not acceot that a transition to a more developed economy with a bigger service and consumer sector meant slower growth rates of 3% to 4% now

so they artificially kept GDP growth at a respectable 6% to 7% by over-investing in infrastructure, encouraging eccessive construction and building etc... Not only is that no longer working and growth is slowing down further anyway, but they create a large credit and real-estate bubble as well as a bubble in an economy that got used to exagerated spending on infrastructure projects

there is a lot of panic now because investors worry over how hard China will fall considering rate cuts are failing to spur growth and halt the slowdown

It's good to see the Chinese economy maturing. Every country has to make this transition at some point, and China's ready.

Having a consumer economy doesn't necessarily mean that economic growth slows down, though... Productivity in manufacturing can rise a lot with robots while the job loss can be taken up by a large services sector. Now China needs to start building some kind of welfare system and improve the education and healthcare system. The government isn't going to earn their popularity with the economy anymore.

Slowing down is innevitable tho, robotics abd stuff wont sustain an annual 8% to 10% growth annually they had for many years

Now that its their service sector and retail sector thats growing faster as their wages gradually rise, it is a gradual process. Incomes will rise as the economy matures but it must be self-sustaining as they no longer have a huge influx of new factories heading there to add to growth...

Also although industrial output is starting to stall, its still a huge chunck of their economy and they cannot force wages up too quickly or it will be a shock to industry... Last year the Chinese Government raised minimum wage 5 times but it was very small gradual increases to give everyone time to adapt

now besides the fact that the transition is gradual, theres also the fact that they over-inflated growth with too much infrastructure spending. That GDP will disapear once they innevitably stop as theres only so many gosht cities and gosht roads u can build

the standad of living of chinese will rise but economic growth will have to moderate. Theres no mature economy that i know of that grows more than 4% per year consistantly

then theres their demographics which wont allow rapid growth... Their efforts to curb unsustainable pop growth with limited children means their pop will actually enter decline in a few years time

Curious for the economic minds on this, the growing trend of tent cities:

http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/2/7/seattle-homeless-camps.html

With the rise of homelessness, some cities or organizations have created tent cities (American version of refugee camps for the destitute) across America. Is this common in your area or nation? Could this be the answer to give the homeless a place to stay?  Aware of any programs to care or reintroduce individuals into the labor force so they could make a modest life for themselves?

Or have employers become far too choosy, even among the experienced, educated, and privileged, to even consider this demographic? Doesn't this seem like a double standard when employers use undocumented workers under the table and get to pay and/or treat people like they used to before unions and worker's rights were established?

Politicians and those with agendas have been exploiting cultural divisions, while the economy drags on at 2.3% growth rate in the U.S and many people across the board are struggling... While the super rich enjoy a cakewalk boom...[http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/31/business/economy/us-economy-q2-gdp-first-estimate.html]

Any thoughts or suggested solutions, or has the problem of scarcity, disparity, and  poverty become too complicated?

OMG on Star Trek Deep Space 9 there was an episode where they went back in time to the year 2020 and there was huge economic problems and one major issue was homeless city shelters all over USA

The prophecy is fulfilling :duck:

In the city I live in there's some city government shelters for homeless people, but unlike in the US (where homelessness is mostly because of money), here it's mostly psychological with people enjoying living outside because it for example stops their schizofrenia.

interesting, so you're saying that those with certain conditions move there or are directed to places like camps as a form of therapy?  I wonder if the U.S. has similar outdoor locations places for that purpose.

I don't think that homeless camps are designated therapy for mental patients... They are sent there because the medical community can't afford, or has no place to house them.  Also, they may have untreatable conditions and no family, or a family who is unable or unwilling to pay for them.

Going to take a while to make it work.  But it appears the goal is to shut down the black market... Terrorists and d--g money is all cash buisness.

I see. I've encountered destitute folks where I'm from in New Mexico and now I see more of them around Dallas with signs, even outside the store I work at.

the medical community can be pretty s--tty to people especially with little to no money or insurance. It's very sad and these people usually need help anyway they can get it from patient folks who won't judge them.
