A new era isnt the same as ARTPOP 2, which she announced. She said that she wants to put 2 new albums this year, which makes it difficult to rebuild the interest after another flop. R&B was king on Pop when Gaga came on the scene back in 2008/2009. Then everything switched to Dance Pop with the girls ruling for a while. Black males were pushed to rap collabs or to Urban and Rhythmic radio mostly. A few broke through, like Bruno (who has also switched more towards a retro sound with this last album), but it was all about the girls in Pop for those years. Now, the guys are back and Alternative Rock and ballads are taking over. Hm... I think BTW was exactly 3 years ahead of its time that music would be perfect atm tbh. Due to the subject matter and the direction Pop radio has gone in the last few months especially, G.U.Y. was always going to be a hard sell. The majority of casual Pop radio listeners, who are mostly girls and women, don't get or care to get the obsession about being a top or bottom. IMO, all they hear is a song about being a girl "under a guy". The women who are having s-x don't really care for that general reference (and many find it insulting) and the younger girls don't even want to hear a song about it. That would have a worse outcome than G.U.Y. I think its has more to do with the fact that radio didnt give it a chance. Gaga hardly had the radio play that Katy had last era, or with her new single, (or the promo this era) so that makes ARTPOPs numbers EXCELLENT compared to Prisms. There's literally no momentum for her to put out an Act 2 now. If she released Gypsy to even moderate success it would be a good lead-in for a second volume. But then again that could also bomb with the way things have been going. BTW had a few songs that would do well now, basically the same songs that did well back then. Y&I, with its country sound, could have possibly been a bigger hit now vs. then. Who knows? Maybe she should just release Act 2 digitally and not release any singles from it, save the hits (if she even has any) for the next album With two flops, and one of them being the worst of her career, there should be no Act II honestly If she does, she should do it over the app to see if enough people will even purchase the single which could rebuild momentum She's just kinda been doing as she pleases and the constant blackouts aren't helping her at all Her new single has been out for about 3 weeks now, and it's yet to be picked up by radios during the daytime Hell, a Birthday v.
