Hypothetical AOC presidency

In my morning listening I found this video. Pretty interesting  

While I would still rather have her take out Schumer and support a run for Harris, Ossoff, or Buttigieg (who is apparently definitely not running?), I would cry actual tears of joy if this happened:

It's almost a "what if everything went right" video but we need a little hopium

I think it was his interview on Fox News but he was straight up asked if he was running and he said no, he's trying to help other Democrats across the country who are running for a ton of offices.

I'm sure having his kids traumatized doesn't encourage him to run either though.

Im Surprised thats ur preference, arent these all centre-left democrats? Definitely not as progressive as AOC

 

Funny, 5 years ago I would have said an AOC or Bernie are too left and will actually hurt the economy (cuz anything taken to the extreme rarely works). But the US has drift so far right and inequality and corporate rule so extreme that i think a sharp U turn is needed to try and undo all the damage.

This far out they lie though. Even Obama said he wasn’t gonna run for president a couple years before the 2008 election. Pete SHOULDN’T run though. He’s been in the spotlight for like 7 years and I still don’t know what his specific vision for America is or what policies he’d pursue. He’s an empty suit that speaks well.

I think the odds of a clear left wing US government are low until the 2030s.

Not impossible, but not just yet. 

Eventually though, I think AI and automation will gradually replace the workforce and drive permanent unemployment. This ripples through the whole economy as consumers can’t afford to spend. 

At that point, the US might not be able to sustain itself and some big changes will be needed. So I can see AOC being able to drive things well there.

I care more about the senate/congress being progressive than I do about the president.

I need pragmatism and effectiveness above all for the executive branch and the most socialist people possible writing the bills, passing the laws, confirming the judges and secretaries, and controlling the nation's money.

I never felt Bernie would be effective and frankly he's failed too much for me to ever support anything but his retirement. However, I do still believe that someone like Kamala Harris would be great, especially if she had a Democratic majority in congress with a shiny new senator AOC  

I do feel the rumbles though. It's looking like JD Vance will be the Republican candidate and he's nothing more than a hollow echo of Trump's second term which is historically hated. If we were ever gonna pitch a full on AOC-type figure now would be the time.

My opinion is kinda irrelevant though  the most conservative Dem running will win the Florida primary so really my only choice is to vote for the candidate who has a D next to their name in November of '28.

But we are hoping to make DeSantis' last few months as governor suck 'cause he pulled a dummymander here and may have given Dems a few more seats in the house if Latino/Hispanic support for the GOP is truly eroding the way it seems to be

I like him better as a spokesperson anyway. He's an excellent person to have in a cabinet position and to send out to news networks, town halls, and rallies.

Context is key. You can't rely on soundbites and two sentence quotes in a tweet to be "informed".

She told the outlet afterwards that she felt it was potentially alienating to voters if Democrats spoke only from a place of "disconnected partisan motivation" and stressed the importance of providing "real" solutions to the economic problems they face.

"I come from a working-class family," she said. "I didn't come from a militant leftist family. I believe that these are the prescriptions that are going to help us as a country.

"And so I think that when we talk about it in that frame, it helps people understand that our conclusions are not just from this disconnected partisan motivation, but it is from a motivation to solve the real inequality that has been hurting us as a country."

Axios recently reported that AOC had "fumed" in private about criticism she has received from left-wing allies for supposedly getting too close to establishment Democrats on Capitol Hill and courting mainstream popularity, which she considered "unfair and counterproductive."

Tl;dr - She's saying the labels and partisanship are hurting the cause and are counterproductive. That's pragmatic and grounded in reality which is why I've changed my tune on her running for the office (but I would still much rather her work in the senate in Schumer's place ).

Why have I not even considered that man could run for federal office  

We might have to claw him away from NYC itself. I don't think they'll be too willing to share but that's too damn bad

But yeah, AOC could absolutely be the sleeper candidate. She's not even 40 yet. Run for Schumer's seat in '28, spend 8 years working as a leader in congress in a similar position as Schumer who, apparently, hand picks candidates to support nation wide, and pop that presidential election run cherry before her 50th birthday.

Could be a dream tbh.
