FfFfFfFF 58,070
Joy spread across Greece after Mount Olympus, the legendary home of the ancient Greek gods, was officially added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List following a 12-year wait. The decision was announced during a UNESCO committee meeting in Busan, South Korea, where dozens of nominations from around the world were reviewed. Mount Olympus was recognised as a mixed World Heritage Site for both its cultural importance and its outstanding natural beauty. Rising 2,918 metres above sea level, the mountain has long been linked to Greek mythology as the home of Zeus and the twelve Olympian gods. It had remained on UNESCO’s tentative list since 2014. The announcement was welcomed with excitement across Greece. Georgios Koumoutsakos, head of the country’s UNESCO delegation, described the decision as a major step towards protecting one of Greece’s most iconic landmarks for future generations. He said the recognition reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to preserving Mount Olympus, adding that, as Greek mythology reminds us, it is always wise to stay on good terms with the gods. The designation is expected to strengthen conservation efforts while increasing international awareness of the site. Local officials also celebrated the decision. Regional mayor Evangelos Geroliolios said the UNESCO listing would bring greater responsibility to protect the mountain’s unique environment, particularly its rich biodiversity and fragile ecosystems. The UNESCO committee, whose annual meeting continues until Wednesday, is expected to assess around 30 nominations this year. Successful sites join more than 1,200 locations across 170 countries recognised for their outstanding value to humanity. World Heritage status often provides important support for conservation through international cooperation, expert guidance and funding. Mount Olympus now joins famous landmarks such as the Acropolis in Athens, the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids of Giza and the Taj Mahal on UNESCO’s prestigious list. Future Lovers 7,537
It makes sense to me. It is the center point of both a religious philosophy and cultural mythology that has an impact on history and pretty much every level of society that is so large and far reaching it’s basically immeasurable. The world as we know it today simply wouldn’t exist without the Ancient Greeks’ beliefs and those beliefs’ impact on their innovations. Mogging is when something is superior to something else. I think it has to do with alpha males or some sh*t but yeah They're saying Mt. Olympus in Washington is superior. It comes from those ****in alpha male manosphere podcaster cunts. It's when an 'alpha male' asserts his dominance/attractiveness/worth/value over someone deemed lesser-than. But now 'mogging' just means like.. standing there nonchalanatly being better than the competition. It can be used like "bro just got mogged" (when a more attractive male walks by), "he's mogging on all of them" when a more attractive male is standing next to a group of less attractive males, and I guess "that mountain mogs the other mountain" Sometimes I wish I could just leave this world because it's becoming more of a ****ing nightmare hellscape day by day I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
