Luc 4,776
Did you just now hear it? You late I think it has potential to be a #1, actually. I thought Sing would be the next contender to knock Happy off the throne, but that one fell through the cracks. Sing is Top 10 material for sure, it's riding on the trend that Wake Me Up started.. but that may have died too. Ugh. There's so much diversity, there's no current trend tbh. Look at this 1 Pharrell Williams - Happy (From "Despicable Me 2") - Little bit of R&B, funky. For urban and rhythmic radio but a little poppy too. 2 John Legend - All of Me - ballad afaik? 3 DJ Snake & Lil Jon - Turn Down For What - EDM? 4 Idina Menzel - Let It Go - just amazing. Pure pop, with real instruments. 5 Iggy Azalea - Fancy (feat. Charli XCX) - female rap with pop chorus 6 Luke Bryan - Play It Again - Country I suppose? 7 Jason Derulo - Talk Dirty (feat. 2 Chainz) - EDM/Dance pop with middle eastern and R&B elements 8 Josh Kaufman - Stay With Me (The Voice Performance) - idk 9 Katy Perry - Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) - Pop with R&B/trap elements 10 Coldplay - Midnight - Probably alternative rock
Whispering 18,865
Still, not that much of a difference Only if you count twice as many albums sold, as not much of a difference. ;)

It sounds like a hit to me, so I find it really strange if it can't even make top 10 on Hot 100. To me the top 10 looks like everything but dance/pop. I wouldn't consider Jason's song pure dance/pop like Gaga's stuff. Idk I just hope the US sees the light again for the sake of G.U.Y.

R&B has come on strong since last summer, along with retro sounds, folk or R&B mixed with EDM, Alt. Rock and ballads. Stay With Me is a Sam Smith cover from a guy with a raspy R&B voice. Look to see that song fly up (and stay up) as soon as it impacts US radios.

Oh lord :( There's still a big pop audience, though. I'm sure there are still a lot of pop fans willing to buy dance pop. It just has to return big at some point. Oh well. How long did the last break in which dance pop was unpopular take, and what did the dance pop queens do?
Ascetic 0
There is a trend -- it's going to be 70s styled music with a dash of R&B and electronica It started last year Songs that fall under it: Lose Yourself To Dance, Blurred Lines, Get Lucky, Happy, and most off of Unorthodox Jukebox, La La La, Latch, etc. Female singers were slow to pick up on the trend, but some songs now can be classified: Fancy, Birthday. some from Beyonce (album) Hit or miss songs include trap undertones and major R&B: Dark Horse, Turn Down for What, Animals (the breakdown) Gaga has nothing that falls within it now (of course )
Luc 4,776
gaga should just release g.u.y. on itunes featuring someone like what katy did with e.t so her fan base will buy it and people will actually see it on the itunes charts ft. Beyonce. She has a big fanbase and big hype.

Promotion? Do you want to go down the list and compare the top 10 for the last year...promotion vs. debut sales? Or do you just want to continue to make excuses for all your favorite girls, while blasting Gaga for everything she does and every accomplishment she has had in the past six years? Iggy hardly had the promo Pharrell had or the radio play. Gaga has failed to promote G.U.Y., so I'm glad you've pointed that out. :) Progress! She just has to ride on trends a LITTLE bit (or try to start a trend using unusual instruments from East-Europe and Asia )

Bt1 5,213
Pharell debuted with like 80k and he has a SMASH #1 single + he is well known through Blurred Lines and Get Lucky - another two smash hits! Gaga debuted with 250k.... It is obvious that album sales are beyond horrible... So I guess 50k for her is cool! Its different to sell albums. Look at Katy, with all the no 1 from Teenage dreams, she need it a re release to be where BTW was, but she is doing good with PRISM, because she is in a new place. Her tour will also be bigger now. Gaga didnt start to sell albums when Just dance was no 1. She did tours, a lot of tv promotions and built her fanbase first.
Ascetic 0
Probably because ARTPOP was set for a release long before it was and music trends changed while she was on the sidelines. I know, ARTPOP was produced mostly in 2012 or at least the stems and instrumentals were for most of the album. They didn't look ahead two or so years, they expected a BTW-sized boom initially then rapid decline (we got that with smaller numbers) Gaga needs to go against the trends and release more dark dance pop dance pop still has potential. She just has to ride on trends a LITTLE bit (or try to start a trend using unusual instruments from East-Europe and Asia ) Maybe, but it'd have to incorporate heavy influences from other genres Dance pop in general is not selling well in the US

R&B was king on Pop when Gaga came on the scene back in 2008/2009. Then everything switched to Dance Pop with the girls ruling for a while. Black males were pushed to rap collabs or to Urban and Rhythmic radio mostly. A few broke through, like Bruno (who has also switched more towards a retro sound with this last album), but it was all about the girls in Pop for those years. Now, the guys are back and Alternative Rock and ballads are taking over.
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
ft. Beyonce. She has a big fanbase and big hype. I think they need to collab again, well at least Gaga needs it since Bey is bigger than ever before...
