Dean Winchester 197
Ok. But what do you think about the lyrics? This is the part that mostly puts me off. I just cringe to lyrics like garden panty etc. But hey, it's just me (ok, I'm too off topic, let's better not, hehh) i know that many people hate Venus because of the lyrics but i find the lyrics to be very innovative. Like when she sings "Rocket Number Nine Take Off to the planet *To the Planet* Venus" she references Sun Ra while describing Venus, the planet. But then she sings "Aphrodite Lady seashell bikini *Garden Panty* Venus; she's listing all the adjectives needed to describe Venus, the goddess of love (but her version of Venus, the one that wears a seashell bikini and a garden panty) So basically what she's doing is moving back and forth to define what 'Venus" can mean. It can be the planet, and it can be the goddess. The song is all about having faith in the beyond so she's trying to say the thing u have faith in can be anything it can be a planet or a goddesss but it doesnt matter, all that matters is that u have faith. And the song is not messy, its different and innovative. In my opinion it has the same potential as Bad Romance. Some may find the lyrics to be cheesy or "basic" but it aint, its poetry. monketsharona 83,872
You know I really think we can't call 'safe' any track from ARTPOP. Why ? Because market and the GP's taste concerning music change all the time... Can you be sure Poker Face or Bad Romance would have been hit songs if she would have released it few weeks ago ? No... It depends of a lot of things : the current taste of the GP, the kind of songs radios like to play, the other tracks released at the same time... That's true, but then again, you can clearly see than songs like Gypsy, MANiCURE, Sexxx Dreams are waaay more single-material than Donatella, Fashion!...
