They were holding it back, because they knew that nothing else would work after it. Most importantly, it had a killer collaboration on it, with the hottest male voice of the moment- Nate Ruess. He was the perfect duet partner and JGMAR the perfect song to compliment both their voices. Pink got lucky with her choice, in that she picked the hot artist (from the most popular band) of the moment, before he (they) became that. A third single RARELY outperforms the first or second one, but it can happen on occasions. Usually, it will happen when an artist is on their way up, (like with Nate Ruess in JGMAR) because more and more people are jumping on the bandwagon and have decided that person, or band, is the new "it artist". For a situation like this one to happen, Gaga would need some kind of perfect collaboration, like Adele on MANiCURE or something like that. That would be a comeback for Adele, an interesting collab, and would get WW massive attention. Or a really good collaboration with Lorde or Ellie or something out of the blue like that. Things come out of the blue that will change things up every time. We should know this by now. What happens, happens. There's no way of saying Venus or Gypsy will smash for sure and there's no use in comparing it to past eras. Relax everyone I predicted MTN was going to flop. GYPSY ISN'T the type of song that can turn out into one of her biggest hits - it's more of a sure hit type of song - something that would probably struggle to even reach Alejandro's success. And the video for it would probably be TEOG 2.0. And the performances can't have anything outstanding in them besides her showing her vocals. I'll stop arguing about VENUS/Gypsy because VENUS will be the 3rd single anyway. I'll be looking forward to see if Gypsy does make a single in the end and FLOPS what the hell with the Gypsy stans come with as excuses - because Venus (as you all say) WILL flop and has huge potential of flop. But with Gypsy y'all say it can smash the hell outta Earth. We'll see. I need you to give me some receipt where people say Gypsy will smash... I'd be more than happy If It struggles to reach Alejandro's success because this means It will be Gaga's biggest hit since TEOG or even Born This Way. And yes I think It can do better .. ANd yall still can't get the point of singles ? Even if dope doesn't repeak It will be played on the radio and It will have promotion and It's the kind of a song that can sell the album and keep the sales for 2-3 months. tell them ! Venus is more like BTW kind of song if anything ... and the same goes for Aura.. just because the choruses are heavenly, doesn't mean the songs are like Bad Romance... Intersope is the label that has the contracts with the AI winner and anyone else they want to sign from the season. Up until this season, Jimmy Iovine was a mentor every week on the show. This year, he is stepping back and Randy Jackson will have that role. (due to American Idol needing an African American in the mix) Jimmy will still be involved in signing the contestants and it is still his label that has the agreement with the show. Well, I prefer Gypsy as third single, and to tell you the truth I don't think it will SMASH, Gaga just isn't in the position right now to have a SMASH single, but I do see it doing better than Venus. I just don't see it doing well, if it does I'll eat my words. I don't understand how people can say Gaga needs a risk, right now. Have they seen her album sales? She isn't doing as well as she could be doing and if the third single doesn't do well, how is that going to help her. The third single, should help sell albums if it's at least a moderate hit. Remember that the Venus sales were 500% higher than ARTPOP's first week sales there, so it's NOT everybody cancelling their pre-order after Venus release In Japan, Venus did better. In the UK, Venus did better. In the US, Venus sold better. On Spotify, Venus is the most listened album-track from ARTPOP while Venus isn't in the Top 10.
