For albums, it's real sales. It said it has sold 5,3 million copies WW. Then disappeared... But believe me. :( By the end of 2011, it was 5,7 million. So, it can't be 8 million now. Album sales matter everywhere. That's still money that are cashed in by the label. It's singles that matter most in US tbh because those give a star their power as well as the yours. BTW has long surpassed the 8 million mark in worldwide sales, according to Billboard itself. It's the reason why she's being advertised already to have sold over 24 million albums worldwide.
