A friend of mine (who've I've been slowly trying to get to like Gaga) watched SNL last night without me telling her Gaga was on it or anything. She said she LOVED Gaga, was amazed at how great she was as a singer, and is now going to listen to the album. I didn't even have to talk her into it or anything. What direction were they wanting it to be...? it's fun, yes, but it's not pop, pop. it's good and pop, but lyrically i think ppl will loose interest in tracks like swine, donatella, possibly aura, def MJH and ARTPOP. but she's moved on tbh, no one should ever expect too many straight forward lyrical hits from her anymore. The same that received ARTPOP with mixed reviews? Because then I totally understand. For me it was another step in the back from her. Until She wolf, you can actually see some of her trademarks. But after that, including Sale el sol, her music become even more generic, the songs could have been sang by anybody, her s-xxyness was the usual s-xxyness and, most important, her dance moves were just the usual stuff. She totally deserved more praised in US from Whenever wherever until Hips dont like, but after not really. But anybody can like whatever they want. Alejandro was huge everywhere in Europe+Latin America, bigger than Telephone or Just Dance I believe (except for the UK, but that's a whole different music market). The effect can also continue next week as the performances will be upload it to Vevo and more people would see and rediscover them. It's having huge updates Right before Lady Gagas episode of SNL, they showed Katys. So, they were right after one another. They just re ran it. So everyone saw Katys SNL performances last night too.
