loljustinwat 1
I know people are going to jump on me and be like lol no bye, but I think the song could be a giant metaphor for desperately seeking approval/craving attention from a lover. I won't go into detail because I'm sure some people would see it as a reach, but my interpretation is making me love the song even more and making it feel a bit more relatable. It's definitely giving me Paparazzi vibes.
Didymus 34,379
I haven't heard the song yet, I was only talking about her ability to rhyme There's no reason for you to attack me personally either for having an opinion about a sentence she tweeted I don't need to agree with "several" critics and especially not with millions of fans just because they have a different opinion. And I don't need to be a multi-millionaire musical legend selling out stadiums across the globe to know the difference between good and bad lyrics. Talent is seldom repaid with success. How is it embarrassing? If you don't like the lyric, fine. You don't need to personally attack her by saying she sucks at rhyming though. You haven't even heard the song yet so calm your f*cking tits. Anyway, several critics and literally millions of fans would disagree with you that she sucks at rhyming though, so your point is sort of invalid :) When you're a multi-millionaire musical legend selling out stadiums across the globe with lyrics written by YOURSELF please get back to me

Ellie Sioux 8
It's my first post, so hi everyone! About the lyrics - I love how simple they are; not stupid, generic, but simple in the most positive way. We have to remember that Gaga was never too poetic, and even her more ambitious lyrics like The Edge of Glory or You and I are, once again, very simple, yet intelligent. Something tells me that this new part of lyrics is the hook. Can you image that? Can you hear it? :) welcome! what a fab first post yeah i agree, and the simplicity kind of leaves it open to interpretation. :)

Didymus 34,379
Since my post got so many negative feedback, let me try to rephrase it: I don't like the lyrics we got so far (!) because I interpret them in a way that makes it seem like Gaga just wants the love of her fans even if her work is crap. I value a critical opinion a lot and I'm personally offended by any statement that would value a subjective, unfounded and slightly delusional stan opinion over a critical opinion that's ideally based on knowledge and experience. It just sounds shallow to me and it basically sums up all I dislike about how she treats her fanbase and how she gives rise to an extreme and unhealthy fan environment that makes it impossible to have a negative opinion about her as an artist and/or her work. But I do agree that that opinion might change once I hear the full song. I can only judge what I've been given.

TraeumereiLPB 294
I can see your point. I also think that a critical evaluation of songs, wines, food etc. based on experience and personal preferences is very important and enriching. But to me, however, the lyrics do not evoke the feeling that Gaga wants her fans to love her music no matter how good or bad it is. To me they rather sound like she is giving us, the audience, the power to either applaud her (to honour a good song/performance), or to stay silent and "destroy" her by doing so. Also, the lyrics sound like she wants everyone to judge for themselves, not caring for what someone else has to say about the song. If you like it, you can bag the gong to crash the critics, as this line indicates: For you to bang the gong To crash the critics To sum it up: To me, the lyrics sound like she wants people to be open minded for the song. If you like it, you shouldn't care for what the "critics" say and applaud her, giving her that "thing" that she loves and "crash" the critics by doing so. But if you don't like it, you have the power to refuse to applaud. It's like she gives herself over to the audience. I hope you know what I want to express with my words. English is not my first language, so I don't know if you can understand it properly. Edited August 4, 2013 by Kankuro It's hard to light a candle, easy to curse the dark instead.
