I can appreciate good camp and I think Gaga is often corny in a sincere way that I think often works (Hair, Bad Kids, Highway Unicorn), but GUY is corny in a way I find off putting (self-serious, not especially clever but clearly trying to be, too guarded and calculated to let sincere much sincerity shine through) We have forgotten our public MANNERS

I would like Can't Stop The High if it didn't have an underwhelming chorus.

The instrumental is phenomenal, every second is infectious, the vocals are excellent, and don’t even get me started on the outro… In another timeline, it’s a smash on the radio tbh We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Unfortunately as a brazilian this song reminds me of the news every single time I laugh out loud I don't believe in the glorification of murder, I do believe in the empowerment of women

holy scheisse 22,568
GUY is delicious in all ways justice for cant stop not making the standard tracklist over some of the very questionable songs towards the disappointing end of mayhem, though

The imagery is much clearer in the lyrics, the electric guitars and intensity of the drums make my heart race, the dueling vocals in a Bowie-esque register and her falsetto delivery are simply divine, and that outro aligns sonically and thematically with a lot of songs on Mayhem (almost as if the song unravels/gets derailed by the end, non-derivatively). I’ll give Zedd credit: he produced one of her best instrumentals, and while G.U.Y. incorporates a lot of humor, it does sacrifice its edge with some of the questionable wordplay. That said, G.U.Y.’s bridge is phenomenal. 1

Thank you … there’s the rush … the imagery, the register and delivery … see how fun liner notes can be when we use our pop-music-will-never-be-low-brow prose, and exercise reciprocity in regard to the records at hand (G.U.Y. built that phenomenal bridge solely so it could get over the tears it knew it would cry when you said CSTH’s vocal runs “alone” mopped its being in its entirety all these years later) … CSTH feels like a genuine underscore, like it needle drops into pure cinematic
