Only Ariana & Olivia Rodrigo spoke out after ICE killed that nurse. This is not to assign blame to any one pop star in general, it's more of a contemplation about why is this a trend amongst them. Do they just not care, or are they scared of being targeted by Trump?

because those two didn't release new music

That’s kind of the problem. I’ve said before that I’d like to know if my favorite artist shares my beliefs. At what point during a long period of silence in which the state of our country becomes increasingly bleak can I reasonably say that I don’t know what she believes anymore?

Battle 4 Ur Life

you can see in a major Gaga thread here today why she would be silent…

still she isn’t.

no ones releasing music as these two people were killed by ice...

and also if a pop star doesnt speak out so they can maximize sales, thats even more pathetic and disgusting.

ariana has always been outspoken and not afraid to post and speak out about injustices even when she had new music coming out, even when wicked came out.

Hey everyone, first of all, this post has no goal to send any hate towards Gaga. As everyone on Gagadaily, I'm here because I admire her and support her. I just wanted to share some thoughts.

I don't understand her silence during the past few months and especially the past few weeks. I'm shocked but what's happening in the US, and it's time for people with influence to speak up. The Mayhem era is visually very beautiful, and some songs are bops, but it feels a bit shallow. Gaga is a symbol of freedom, a diversity icon, people expect from her. I feel like she only wants to stay in a comfort zone where she remains in poetry, makes money and stays safe. We could think that it's a strategy from democrates to wait the right moment, but Obama and Biden even recetely said that it's time for everyone to speak up. We need people to make noise, to expose what's happening, to shame Trump's politics, because the republicans are hiding the clues, and instead, only a few pop stars are vocal. Gaga is on stage every night, sit at the piano and make a speech, yet we never heard "ICE" from her mounth but only a few abstract sentences about self love. Maybe it's hard for her, maybe she's in shock with what's happening and is scared of the consequences. But isn't being an artist and an activist all about taking risks, especially when you have a lot of money to protect you and the majority of people will be on your side ?

What are your thoughts ? Do you think it's just a question of days or weeks and she will get vocal at some point ?

It's gotta be one of three things

The worst option would be 1. she has been in such a bubble of other rich, privileged people for so long that she's finally started losing touch and is becoming an entitled, distanced, rich person surrounded by yes-men

2. The record label has threatened to completely stop funding and promo of all future projects of any artists who speak about certain things, and she and others are completely trapped (bound by NDAs)

3. She's decided that she wants to help causes behind the scenes now rather than speak out online for whatever reason

Whatever the answer, she's definitely lost her rebellious, activist, humanity-driven, passionate spirit that she once had. It's there bit it's just very dim

I will be happy if Gaga speaks up about ICE but it wouldn't make any difference even if she does or doesn't. In a democracy you hold politicians accountable about their wrong decision, it's more important than a popstar's opinion. Also an average American wouldn't care what celebrities like Lady Gaga have got to say anymore, if she speaks it's only little monsters who are going to be happy about it. Since ASIB era, she had become more private, maybe we need to respect that.

I would LIKE to believe this undoubtedly. But I think if we are being honest with ourselves we are probably projecting our desires/best case scenario onto her because we love her and her art. It could really be anything

I am sure that she would make a statement about ICE on Grammys. Maybe not directy but making a statement about Trump's policies in general.

Mate, she can't be fighting everybody's battles all the time. She does have her own health to maintain this time around.

Do you also think that maybe she herself is quite afraid too amd doesn't know what to say?

Her show in Brazil was almost a major target at one point too.

Not everyone's battles all the time. Just the extremely important ones, the massive news stories of tragedies that that are affecting people in her country in horrific ways. Idk though maybe her saying something online doesn't actually have the same effect it used to. Maybe she isn't influential anymore and she knows that it wouldn't help so she stays quiet. Like I said it could be any number of reasons

I feel like she’s been very calculated and precise when it comes to activism, especially more recently. For instance, during COVID, she organized that concert to fund research I believe, but did not ask any money from fans, but instead from the wealthy. And when accepting her Grammy last year she made sure to highlight the trans community. During the height of BLM, she chose to give her social media account to organizations she donated to so that they would have a platform to speak.

I’d like to think that she knows what pull she has, which is more so organizing, versus being the mouthpiece. She isn’t the type to repost random infographics on her story, that’s never been her style, and if she did, it would feel inauthentic. She doesn’t have the sort of suave that artists like Billie have over young impressionable people, and so her audience is less likely to be swayed by her opinions, since by now, I’d say most of her fanbase have a fully developed prefrontal cortex. Maybe I’m disillusioned, but I also don’t think social media is the most conducive to actual action or genuine reflection. It’s an echo chamber of what people already believe. And I wouldn’t be surprised if her relationship with her dad has discouraged her from feeling that she can do anything to stop the right (as in, if she can’t get her own dad to see her pov, how can she convince a stranger?).

woop hey there keep scrolling

I remember those couple of years. Online fans were dragging her non-stop because she was giving her insta handle to BLM activists and constantly posting about Covid relief, and not promoting Chromatica.

Obviously I wanted more from Chromatica era aswell yes, but she made the right decision in the end.

I really think she'll say something when she gets back to the US

Michael was born in Minnesota and I think he grew up there? So I'm sure they've been watching the recent things happening there

She probably is just thinking what can she actually do to make a difference. Imo there's not really that much celebrities can do but maybe I'm wrong. They do have a lot of money after all :artdoll2: but everyone already knows what's happening, other countries are even sending news people to the US to cover stuff

She probably also is concerned to put fans in danger especially during the tour
