GerMonsterNotta 1,797
It is early 2011. The world is perched waiting for what the weird-yet-cool 24 year old pop girl - famous for her quirky style, catchy dance tracks, eye-popping videos, meat dress etc - will shock the world with next …… In that one peak moment she had the world in the palm of her hand, with as many ears and eyes as possible… and how did she decide to use her huge platform … A bold, explosive hard-harding unapologetic, unconventional track crashes down to Earth from planet Gaga GOAT - don’t be a drag just be a Queen - gay, lesbian, transgender - God. Makes. No. Mistakes - she went full in - it was risky, brave, polarizing, she knew she would lose some ‘market share’ and sacrifice broad appeal to some extent … but it was the RIGHT thing to do in her eyes… above all it preached LOVE. Love for ourselves and each other. it changed lives and shaped culture to what we know today. it remains a pop culture landmark ….. a gateway to infuse this message into all her music going forward …. There will never be another Born This Way - not from anyone else, or even Gaga herself - this unique beacon of hope was lit, …and let us all hope for all humanity’s sake for a future where it can continue as well as spark and grow more compassion in the souls of our increasingly complex, and scary, world. 💀💓…. the world needed this. And she delivered. ahhh want a time 🥹 Edited 3 hours ago by GerMonsterNotta 1 2

MajorMinus 384
I will always remember walking back from the bodega and playing this song on my headphones...what a time to be alive. None of us expected the complete explosion of an era she would deliver following this. Ugh. What I'd give to relive that experience one more time. 6 minutes ago, River said: It was really ahead of it's time, the song was everything Thanks to BTW I'm proudly singing "I'm ugly in my way cause god makes some mistakes" and it's so empowering and freeing, I feel like I don't need to work much to be beautiful. hELXIG 43,751
When she was at the peak of her career and on the minds and lips of every human on earth... she went against everybody's advice and dared to release a track boldly standing for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. With her full chest she put it out there in a time where talking about these communities and supporting them openly was risking her career and could've been career suicide. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little disappointed that the world has forgotten how brave it was to do this back in 2011. Remember gay marriage was still illegal in most of the world then. Brands didn't throw up a performative rainbow logo every June, they avoided any association with the community like the plague as it was considered a risk to their business to associate with the queers. Gaga threw the first brick and stood by her decision unwaveringly, and every time she was challenged she doubled down. THIS is why she means to much to the LGBTQIA+ community. The world forgets.. but those of us who were in the trenches fighting for our rights and our lives back then remember how much she did and what it meant to us Edited 1 hour ago by hELXIG I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. 3
NUTELLA 13,858
"Whether life's disabilities left you outcast, bullied or teased... rejoice & love yourself today" ....& then she told NME that the accusations of her ripping off Express Yourself were "re✝️arded." I still think about that a lot. She apologized, but it was such an hysterically awful & idiotic ****-up. It read like a punchline The song brings back such vibrant, positive memories though ⏮️
