Compared to Disease or Abracadabra the Dead Dance video is definitely the weakest. But that’s because Disease and Abracadabra are two of her best videos. I like the Dead Dance video, it’s camp and spooky, just what the song needed

This made me wonder, was Parris involved at all? Creative direction is definitely one of her strengths with Disease, Abra, and the Mayhem Ball. Not that it was all her and not Gaga coming up with the concepts, but they clearly work really well together.

Because it is still a doll that was standing still and not 3D animated, and not in front of a greenscreen. Which means even VFX artist have to warp the still image to make it move

Honestly no, as a huge fan of his work if they didn’t announce Tim was the director I wouldn’t have known it was him. I get fitting the theme of the show etc but he could be wayyyy creepier. It wasn’t terrible, but kind of left me wanting more

It was good for a video for a song that was an addition to an era. If it was on Mayhem originally, I'd expect maybe a bit more but considering this is a standalone single and we weren't even expecting it, I'll take it. I don't think such a song needed a storyline. The intro of her coming to life was good enough for me. Focusing on the song and dance will make more people focus on the song anyway. It's a choreo-filled Gaga video, which is something fans have been wanting for years, and it's the second video she's done like this in a row, what more do you want? I mean, DWAS just involves her playing a piano, at least she's actually moving about and dancing here. How many singers make music videos for songs from soundtracks these days? We should be grateful. And no one complained when HMH was almost all clips from the movie yet here, these is a pure Gaga video with no Wednesday cutaway scenes and is made like it's a lead single. So many artists aren't even making music videos anymore, so we're spoilt really. A Gaga song and video that's a hit? Let's celebrate that.

A bit more grit, more outfits would do the trick. The first 40 seconds of the video was quite good but had me worried that it'd keep going like that and then it did 

Not particularly blaming Gaga or the Haus but Tim Burton really just phoned it in.

My guess is he was just too expensive for the Haus but because they had committed and didn't want to admit it was too expensive they just cut down on sets and costumes as a result. Which is a shame because they definitely could have done a much better video with a better budget imo.

I've never really been a fan of Tim Burton, I feel he is a bit over rated. But yes, I expected something more. I expected more of a story/short film. I was hoping for more MAYHEM songs to be included too.

He draws for every project that he directs, which usually serves as a work basis for his collaborators. He’s always worked that way. Set and costume designers are someone else’s job, even for movies whose directors have a strong visual identity.

I think the video is quintessential Tim if you have actual knowledge of his work and not just a superficial and clichéd view of what he does. The black and white German expressionist inspiration, the doll character, the giallo-like colors, the stop motion animation… It’s literally all there.
