Taumaturg0 610
It's a campy music video for a campy horror inspired song meant to be a companion piece to a campy horror streamiong show. It's also VERY Tim Burton while also being very Gaga. Also, can we keep in mind that this was shot on location ?
TimotheeChalamet 5,819
There's a bunch of hidden homages to Burton's favorite movie wave which is italian gothic horror from the 60s. Other than that it's a very simple video but it's okay.

I honestly think that Netflix may have had a lot of control over the video, especially the budget. It very much feels like something that was shot in one or two days, and a low budget would give them a tight time constraint. Netflix probably wanted a quick video with good choreo as promo for the song, not Gaga and Tim Burton making an artistic masterpiece.
Cavadour 2,408
Did Tim Burton what ? Fail to deliver what ? You guys are hopeless... Late to the party but I got a diamond heart 1
Lucas 27,240
Idk, the video just feels low budget and rushed. They didn't put much efforts in the creation of it

It's undeniable that. I mean, if someone tells you you're about to watch a Lady Gaga's video directed by Tim Burton you expect something crazy, dark, strong, etc. But that said, I liked the video because for me Gaga's charisma was enough to give me what I wanted. Exactly. Besides the First shot that Was awkwardly long, She somehow Is enough. Plus the Song carries. G U C C I 5,505
I don’t think anyone failed with the video it’s just that a collaboration or this caliber gave such high expectations of greatness that it’s disappointing to see something that is just good or ok. Just another incredible director to not truly deliver with her talent. Looking at you Ridley & Todd. They didn’t hype that the video would be anything monumental but to take the time to go to the Island of Dolls to film it, have the whole cast be asked about her specifically in every interview, use an original song for the show, have Tim talking about what an amazing artist she is and how he loved working with her, the Netflix Tudum performance, etc. etc. all to culminate in 1:30 cameo and an average music video that could have been filmed in a day on a lot in LA is just head scratching to me. It makes me wonder if she has some kind of deal with Netflix in general and Wednesday was just part of that. Other shows are using her music as well now too. Love that for her if it’s true and hopefully leads to great roles and new music for her. 2

ToriDivine 35
My overall thoughts were…there’s usually a lot more going on in a Gaga video…but I figure it’s tied to Wednesday and Tim Burton is directing so…almost results in something that’s a little less Gaga and a little more influenced by show runners. I could be totally off base but 🤷♀️ that was my initial thought. Gaga looked amazing, dancing was great, and she was all in on what she was doing. Zedd 6,338
Yes, he did. I didn't expect the video to be almost all black and white (thought it would have Disease-MV-like colors) and to be all about dancing. I thought there will be some action, some beautiful shots of the Island. I know that any of us here would direct a better one. It does give me hope that they will continue working in the future tho! I can see her becoming one of his muses if she isn't already.
