but it's not paying dust, mind you that the song has no radio deal and had no heavy rotation in any station. so it's organically rising and it's doing very good!

Its doing OK at most in my humble opinion.  For now its increasing a lot because obviously it wasn’t released yet last week. (Airplay increase is always based on the update exactly a week before). Its gonna have an ugly -2 million rolling effect at its 8th day and then its gonna be +0,5M or worse if it doesnt get picked up very soon.

Pop radio is the major problem but it was expected as both artists are almost 40 so ageism is starting to kick in.

You can’t be that pessimistic with the song having over +300 spins at Pop radio honestly.

It’s doing just fine for a new song

Spins increase is good but the Hot 100 uses Audience Impressions and that is not very high. That is because big pop stations like Z100 are barely playing it or playing at very bad times like at night that is almost useless for Hot 100.

All Im saying is that first week can always be very positive as its not competing its previous week’s numbers yet. Next week is when the “fun” begins and we will see whether they start to play it more or not.

Z100 definitely has an anti-Gaga stance. Between the non-stop ad placement and infomercials, they only play the same artists over and over and over ($$$).

I remember last year Danielle, who co-hosts the Elvis Duran show in the morning, which is quite big, was ranting how much she HATED Shallow. How terrible it was, and hated every time she heard it. And that she never saw the movie…but had the audacity to say “I love you Gaga!”

My point? It’s organically doing its thing so let’s hope it continues I agree with you — seems like it next week it will!

The stations with horrific taste and greed will eventually follow.

Luna Lovegood

"Leave the Door Open" by Silk Sonic (a duo consisting of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 through a combination of several key factors:

1. Strong Debut: The song had a strong debut, thanks to the star power of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak. Their established fan bases were eager for new music, which gave the song an initial boost in streaming and sales.

2. Critical Acclaim: "Leave the Door Open" was widely praised by critics for its smooth, nostalgic sound that channels the classic R&B and soul of the 1970s. The positive reception helped build momentum.

3. Live Performances: Silk Sonic promoted the song with high-profile live performances, including their debut at the 2021 Grammy Awards. It showcased the duo’s chemistry and vocal talent, creating more buzz around the song.

4. Wide Radio Airplay: The song received significant radio airplay across multiple formats, including pop, R&B, and adult contemporary stations. This broad appeal helped it reach a wide audience.

5. Streaming and Sales: The song performed well on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music and maintained strong digital sales, which are both crucial components of the Hot 100 formula.

6. Music Video and Social Media: The accompanying music video, with its retro aesthetic and charming vibe, resonated with fans and was widely shared on social media. The song's smooth and romantic vibe made it a favorite for covers and memes, which further increased its visibility.

7. Consistency and Staying Power: After its debut, the song showed staying power by consistently performing well in streams, radio airplay, and sales over several weeks, which allowed it to climb to the top of the charts.

These elements combined led to "Leave the Door Open" reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for multiple weeks.

Besides the Live Performances, it seems like DWAS is following the same trajectory as LDTO and it hit #1 a few weeks later (week 4/5 after its debut). We just have to be patient and hope radio picks up sooner or later (knowing radio have some weird hatred towards Gaga since debut) it’s gonna be awhile till we see any improvements tbh but so far radio has been doing OK. we’ll see when the rolling effects and second week performance.

I know, I meant that it's not realistic for Radios to pay it a dust by stop playing it like from next week :)

If I like it, then that's what I get!

I think they weren't trying to get the #1 this week but next week instead. If the song does go #1 next week, it'll be announced on September 2nd, then Billboard page updates on the 3rd, guess whose movie is premiering in Venice on the 4th and will probably be asked how do they feel about their song going #1. By that point the song should be top 10 in HAC and AC, and probably top 20 in Pop, enough to be top 15 in radio. They will probably do signed CDs and all.

The streaming is there, I reckon they're going to put DWAS at #4 on TTH tomorrow, and that will give it the final push the have a residency at #1 on Spotify US with enough margin to go #1 next week.
