This is literally the time to do it because the Muslim community barely has any power in US politics. But they do now because Kamala needs the Muslim vote in Michigan to win the election. Pressuring Kamala after your power is gone wont work.

They arent even attacking her, they are just forcing her to speak on the subject during her visit to their state.

If she didn't say anything to them at all, then she was going to take heat from the camp that will twist it into her being antisemitic and bringing in pro-Hamas rhetoric into her platform. There was no right answer here. 

You can look back through my post history here and find that I have been adamantly pro=Palestine since this whole conversation began. I still am. Always will be. I don't claim to believe that Kamala's record of messaging on the subject is perfect, nor am I under any delusions that she's suddenly going to get into the White House and solve the whole thing. 

But what I am quite sure of is that of the two people running for president, she is the one whom the Palestinians actually have some hope under. The one who does support a ceasefire. The one who isn't going to tell Israel to, quote, "finish the job."

I understand the point the protestors here wanted to make. I do. I get it. But we've got to pick our battles, and at the moment the battle for Palestine's future rests in the hands of who is in control of the one nation in the world Israel needs permission from to do what they want to do.  There is a very clear answer who of the two of them is going to be better for Palestinians. 

There will be a time where we can put pressure on Kamala to act more decisively in regards to the subject, but that time is not in this moment when literally anything could tip the scales of the election. We have to start playing the long game instead of only thinking about right here right now. 

 Let’s be real, those people don’t want ceasefire, they want the destruction of Israel. And they’ll never be satisfied until Kamala or any other politician explicitly says so (which will obviously never happen since Israel is the closest American ally).

Like you said, Kamala supports a ceasefire and increased aid to Gaza. She has been though on Netanyahu, who openly wants Trump to win so he can ‘finish’ Gaza.

I mean, don't love the fact that she's clashing with pro-Palestine protesters, and I do think some of y'all are getting a bit too coconut-pilled by essentially being like "omg yaaasss queen! get them!" to protesters who have very real and legitimate issues.

BUT that being said, looking at this objectively...very few American politicians are going to condemn Israel outrightly. The US, in general, is very pro-Israel and most people (sadly) don't care enough about foreign politics. I'm never going to expect Kamala to 100% condemn Israel and their actions because frankly many Americans don't care or are actively pro-Israel. You won't get that from the average American politician, so expecting that from a presidential candidate is unrealistic.

Let's just not forget that even though Trump would be 10x worse on Palestine, that doesn't mean that we can't call on Dems to do more. When you've got both major political parties giving standing ovations to Netanyahu a couple of weeks ago, you gotta understand that this is an issue from both sides of the aisle.

I think she handled this perfectly. She was respectful and let them have the moment they so clearly wanted, but shut it down quickly and forcefully with nary but a look.
