I found it borderline cruel to its characters, who didn't feel even like they were fully realized people, but cardboard cutouts imbued with the most cliché "trauma" purely to induce an emotional response in the audience. I had no sense of who the lead character was outside of his trauma. The performances were good in spite of the terrible material, though. I think Andrew Haigh is just not for me, unfortunately.
