I found it borderline cruel to its characters, who didn't feel even like they were fully realized people, but cardboard cutouts imbued with the most clichΓ© "trauma" Β purely to induce an emotional response in the audience. I had no sense of who the lead character was outside of his trauma.Β The performances were good in spite of the terrible material, though. I think Andrew Haigh is just not for me, unfortunately.
