i Love the Lady 119
Why has she ditched the rock sound of her debut album? Should she go back to it? Is she even able to make music like that now a days?
27monster27 11,147
I personally need an album full of the Katy Perry "A" (her 2005-2006 original debut album) sound. I need her to do a more serious alt-rock sound in a mainstream setting. he/him/his
faysalaaa 2,944
Her debut is the only album I love from her
Edonis 28,624
I don't know enough about Katy Perry-lore, but maybe she just isn't a big fan of that sound?
DrKindnessKunt1999 5,708
Maybe it just isn’t her anymore. Even in 2017 when the electropop sound was dead she released an electropop album. I get the vibe that she resonates more with that sound than the rock sound. It’s just a theory though.

It feels like she went straight into full pop with TD to make sure she didn't hit a sophomore slump and it worked so well she kept with it.
huttont 4,921
I would love a surprise from her musically. I would love for more experimentation with her sounds to see what other genres she can play around with.

Quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she kept the electropop sound for the rest of her career. It seems like her comfort zone.
Stephen 30,266
I think Katy could pull off a Natasha Bedingfield type sound. Imagine her Pocketful of Sunshine moment?? I mean cmon!
Lucas 24,050
Been asking myself that for years... Her pop sound is tired at this point. Her most successful single since CTTR is Harleys In Hawaii because that song is quite different from what she usually does, both the song and the music video. TwistedTeeth 1,621
I don't know enough about Katy Perry to opine. Walking on Air was the only song I've listened on repeat/put in a playlist before. I did like the aesthetic though, it'd be cute to see again LG7我们真的来喽(゜▽゜)🎉

Reject False Icons 4,648
She ditched it cause it was a trend that faded away in the late 2000s have you heard a pop rock trend afterwards? I know Olivia is doing it but not many others honestly many comments don’t even know what they want from Katy, her core sound, to experiment, to follow trends, to go back to her roots, it’s just giving I hate her cause she’s not at the top

SS77 1,708
Yes yes yes She's a guitarist, and writes a lot of her songs and ballads on the guitar. Would love to see her return to this sound. OOTB is still my fave Katy album
