GipJo 2,912
Nothing scares me more than teenagers nowadays, who think they have politic power and don't think about consequences when using them. I read the news that the biggest library in Marseilles were destroyed, what the purpose of that? In this case, the live of the dead kid didn't actually matter to them, they are unleashing anger because of Macron's retirement plans, high inflation and such. Far from it. It's also a school, many cars belonging to broke people living in these blocks, a youth and cultural activities house, some of the buses used in their blocks, local small stores owned by folks from these blocks and even housing buildings where broke or regular folks live... I don't disagree with riots but they're often shooting in their own foots with the targets chosen here. You don't either praise all type of riots or condemn it all, you can simply wish it was not adding to the difficulties of the victims sometimes. dit 46,738
I am happy they are protesting because there is a lot of unaddressed racism in France BUT obviously vandalizing random property and stealing is horrible but its a horrible consequence that happens almost in EVERY single protest that catches on with the public because randos take this opportunity to be corrupt and steal and do these things. That said the messaging is still good and the protesting is still good and NEEDED beyond that.
Mr Ricky 9,089
U can make a point destroying political houses or whatsoever. But this proves, people do it to just steal and vandalize. They are enjoying it, it's not because of anger. As if a dead teen's cheering for you on stealing those nikies. Well done! Humans are a joke at this point. 27monster27 15,917
The replies in this thread, the Starbucks thread, and the Kim Petras threads have all been dangerous cases of how far-right ideologies are becoming socially acceptable again on this site. I really thought we were passed this after 2022, but I guess not. he/him/his

This tbh. Lots of people are quick to have outrage towards outrage but they're slow to be outraged towards the outrageous. ...that made sense, right? Y'all want unrest like this to stop happening then police brutality needs to be addressed. That was the spark that lit this whole thing. I just wish they were more organized and pointed their violence towards the institutions that cause problems. The rich, police, politicians. Besides, the argument often gets thrown around as if violence is the only way to progress on issues meanwhile the violent times seem to coincide when change is already occuring in many cases simply because ppl are frustrated it's not progressing as fast as they'd like but it doesn't prove the violence is what made the progress In some extreme situations like dictatorships or whatnot maybe there's nothing else u can possibly do, but in a society like France, I find it hard to believe burning innocent peoples property is somehow the "valid" or the only way to push for change. Besides, we live in a world of social media where stuff like this is often gonna go viral... And in a society of 8 billion ppl no matter how much progress is made there's always going to be isolated cases like this even if we reduce them significantly Resorting to this everytime is not a sustainable long term solution and I fear it's increasingly brushed off as the norm and acceptable valid way to voice ur frustrations. Ur gonna end up hurting more ppl in the process than the people your supposibly claiming to help Again, id like to see u still support this if it was ur car destroyed. I seriously doubt ud still defend it so easily after that Valid according to history lol Some of my property has been destroyed during a violent protest and I supported the protest anyway because I mean what tf I say. Cute assumption though 💖 This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Roughhouse Dandy 13,701
Y'all know those stupid situations that happened in grade school where someone was getting bullied, they finally found the courage to fight back, and then the notoriously awful teacher gave the one who fought back detention instead of the bullies who instigated? A lot of y'all are giving off big vibes of that teacher and do in most threads. So have fun with that. Hope its fulfilling This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss. Most of the riots in Paris are actually happening in the suburbs, but you’ll be fine in the main city. Also the whole situation seems to get better this week-end, I don’t think that you should cancel the trip, just stay aware of the events. Thank you. I’ll keep an eye on everything happening. Same with infrastructures used for public services, especially in poor blocks, burning it ain't bringing more social justice, rather the opposite actually since it's the poors, often POC dealing with consequences, again. I agree that you need to shake things up to get results with these crooks but if they want to burn stuffs I wish it would be the current government party's offices instead... 11 hours ago, Munchlax said: You two (and whoever agrees with these sentiments) are adding to the problem rather than the solution. Why direct it to innocent ppl? Of course I didn't mean burning down small family owned businesses and working class citizens' houses and cars I just worded that poorly. By 'energy' I meant their passion for righteousness and justice and fixing a broken system. To make their voices heard and show corrupt leaders that they want change and they want it now I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
