The Emperor’s New Groove is one of the best movies Disney has ever made, and I’ll die on that hill

Here's my chronologically-ordered, very long, overly-specific (as always) list...

- Snow White's speaking voice annoys the hell out of me. It's beyond me that people thought that was a good sounding voice back then. It's so twee, overly-little-girly and fake and hits that part of my ear that makes it sound shrill. Her singing voice is a bit better but not by much. And, in line with Disney always being historically inaccurate with the designs of characters to keep in line with current trends, we get a Snow White with a flapper bob to make her look like Shirly Temple (???) with puff sleeves and at one point, a Peter Pan collar. She doesn't look like any other iteration of Snow White I've ever seen in children's books or other studios.

- The ending of Bambi is one of the best endings Disney ever made and similarly underrated is the gorgeous song, Love Is A Song That Never Ends.

- Sleeping Beauty's pink dress looks better than blue. Though I have grown to love the blue almost as much. She's called Briar Rose, therefore, a pink dress makes sense. I've heard someone say they didn't like pink as it made her look like a Barbie doll. And I'm like, that's a bad thing because? I'm glad Disney marketing realised little girls love pink and decided to market her as pink in all branded products, however.

- Mary Poppins would be insufferable if she were real. Even as a kid, I remember thinking at times: "She thinks a lot of herself, doesn't she?" She gaslights the children into thinking their magical day wasn't real (something which I still don't understand the motivation of) and does the same to Mr Banks to get him to take the children to the bank. He even questions the gaslighting straight after it happens! She even tells the kids not to do anything that might scratch the painting and then lets Bert blatantly scrape and skid his shoe right across the ground in the dance scene without a word! I know Emily Blunt said when she took on the role for the sequel that she was narcissistic but dismissed it as a weirdly delightful trait. It just goes to show, we think this trait on film is monstrous in men but charming/witty/fierce on women.

- Robin Hood is a severely underrated gem and Sir Hiss is an underrated villain sidekick.

- The Fox And The Hound has one of the best action climaxes Disney ever made. Yeah, that bear must've been on steroids to be that big and its roar wasn't realistic but it doesn't change how you're on the edge of your seat watching it. And another underrated film too.

- The Black Cauldron deserved so much more and is one of Disney's riskiest and darkest moves to date.

- As much as I love The Little Mermaid, the only two songs that I truly like from it are Ursula's and Ariel's songs. I never got the love for Under The Sea and it was only recently that I looked up a lyric video of it and realised that part of the reason I couldn't get into it was because those lyrics are sung so weird and fast that I can't make head or tail of most of them! I'm just now finding out what the barely decipherable lyrics at times were. I can like it a bit better now!

- Return Of Jafar is awful with that sub-par animation a downright embarrassment compared to the original. Even the scale of the characters is all wrong, they've been shrunk down. It's like episodes of a canned Saturday morning cartoon show that didn't want to go to waste.

- 101 Dalmations is the only truly good live action remake. They actually build on what we liked, added in really smart new elements and took out the parts we didn't care about. Disney could learn something from this.

- Forte from Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas is a great villain but is almost completely unknown as he was put on a straight to video release. Genuinely eerie and dark, he is the reason why ever since, the sight of those massive church organs seriously unnerve me.

- Disney should never have remade The Parent Trap because it should've been obvious by then that the plot made no sense. No court, especially in California, would allow such a ludicrous arrangement. It's crazy looking at this movie as an adult seeing how ridiculous these parents are and we're supposed to be on their side! The mother even had the gall to say to Hallie "I've loved you my whole life." So that's why you abandoned her as a baby and never attempted to contact her and never told her she had a twin! Not as if the twins get a free pass either. Hallie is problematic AF. She bullies Annie with psychopathic tactics and they do the same to Meredith later. These girls have serious issues. Not surprising after the parental abandonment.

- Lion King 2's songs are really good and underrated. And Zira is one the all-time best Disney villains.

- Freaky Friday's remake has a seriously weak conflict by making it so that it's the rehearsal dinner Anna wants to miss to attend the concert. It would've been better if it was the actual wedding day, then you'd understand Tess's outrage. Seriously, Americans, what is the point of rehearsal dinners, we know how to sit and eat dinner! And Tess rips Anna's door off the hinges! Privacy is a privilege?! It's a human right!

- Cinderella 3 isn't the underrated masterpiece its cult fans are making it out to be. So, any non-magic person can use the fairy godmother's wand and she's completely powerless without it? It's really weird and fanficky and it's oddly short as well. So Much More Than A Dream is a good song, though.

Maybe said, but 2D animation deserves a come back in general. I think dreamworks’ new animation style they used in bad guys and the last wish was fantastic

- Cinderella 3 is the best Cinderella

- People need to stop saying bad things about the first disney princesses, even if they dont fight or say they dont want a husband, they literally do nothing wrong and have good qualities like kindness and perseverance.

- People critizing disney adults here are funny because you are literally on a forum dedicated to lady gaga, let people enjoy what they like.

- The new peter pan is probably the worst disney live action. The little mermaid is the best one by far.

Wall-E is their best film. And it is so romantic and sadly prophetic about where we are heading.

Also, where are the lead queer characters? So tired of Disney operating in the prince/Princess binary (but I haven’t watched them in a while). Like, where’s the gay Aladdin or Wall-E? Lol

The little mermaid remake is miles better than the original, though the other remakes are the opposite.

Disney as a whole just feels weird. I went to Disney World with my extended family (I’m the oldest of my cousins) when I was 17 and it felt like weird cultist propaganda
