Blue and green - regions where fewer soldiers died. Dark brown, red, organge - regions where more soldiers died

Lowest per capita losses:

Khanty-Mansi AO - 1.12
Yamalo-Nenets AO - 1.09
Moscow Oblast - 0.98
Saint Petersburg - 0.91
Moscow - 0.13

Highest per capita losses:

Tuva Republic - 29.16
Buryatia Republic - 26.05
North-Ossetia - 16.71
Altai Republic - 14.89
Zabaykalsky Krai - 13.8

This goes to shows how Russia disproportionately uses its population. The share of Siberian and other minorities is higher in the military forces of Russia than in Russia's general population (this may also be partly why there isn't extraordinary civil unrest in Moscow and Sankt Petersburg - only 0,3% of the total of dead soldiers lived in Moscow city). Buryats, Tuvans and Ossetians are some the ethnicities most involved in fighting the Ukrainians.

All this murderous mess because of Pudding.

Putin can go tomorrow and the war will continue, or become worse under an ultra-nationalist.

This is a russian problem, not a Putin problem. And I see no hope of the societal attitude changing in the near future.

Also, that way the deaths are kept silent. Nobody in the most popular areas will know a fallen soldier, only those in poorer areas and they usually don’t have a voice. They can continue their ****ed up war with nobody blinking and eye or seeing their loses.

Kindness rules all.

When an ethnic Russian dies it makes the news because people will treat him as a national hero and it can be used as a propaganda tool. Ethnic Tuvans, Buryats, Ossetians on the other hand are poorer and see the military as a source of good money, but they can't manipulate their deaths nationalistically.

This just showed me how i just don't know a thing about Russia reality.  While did know that living in Moscow or S. Petersburg was radically different from the rest of the country, i fail to know a thing about the different ethnicities, how people live in other regions, their life conditions, and how are they treated by the government.  But from  this bit of information you can really tell that it's very different indeed.

Buryats and Tuvans are actually pretty close to the Mongolians and have traditionally a Mongolic warlike culture. Russia is enormous and full of very unique and diverse ethnicities. Yakuts for instance live in the coldest climate and their country subdivion is bigger than all Europeans countries while their language most closely resembles Kazakh and Turkish.

The north Caucasus is also full of a plethora of different groups, even including a Buddhist minority who migrated to the Volga region from Mongolia.

Also in the north Caucasus live the Ossetians who are distant relatives of the Iranians and possible descendents of the Ancient Schytian or the Avars.

There there are also the Udmurts who have the highest share of red hair in the world (higher even that the Irish to which they were historically isolated).

There are many other Finno-Ugric ethnicies who speak Languages distantly related to Hungarian, Finish and Estonian: Moscow itself is theoretized to be a Finno-Ugric name.

Economy

Not surprised a lower percentage is from. Moscow.

Probably conscripted fewer soldiers from there or at least sent them in less dangerous assignments so as to have fewer angry families that could turn dangerous near Putin

Yeah. Not surprised he's keeping hands off Moscow Soldiers for the most part. Keeps news and angry families away from his area and most politically sensitive area

It's important to note though that soldiers were not forced into conscription, so it was not a voluntary decision not to sent people from Moscow. They don't want to go there themselves, and have other better sources of income than fighting in the army, which can't be said about the other communities in Russia.

Ah they weren't conscripted? The media made it sound like they were when they talked about soldiers who didn't wanna be there and low morale

So ur saying it's voluntary and Moscow has fewer career soldiers since there's better opportunities while poorer regions ppl are more likely to resort to it for income?

They used conscripts in the first week of the war - according to some because they militarily less valuable and they obviously wanted to save the more experienced soldiers for the rest of the battles (Russians or not, is just sad to think about how human life is treated in these war games :bear:).

Yes! Though is not necesarilly a career thing, Russia can give someone who wants to fight 2 weeks of training and then will be send straight to the frontline.
